A Couple Questions

First off, while changing my oil i noticed that my exhaust (which was installed by previous owner) is running a y-pipe cat-back flowmaster system, it seems to have a dent on the "Y" that comes off of the mid-pipe and into the muffler on the passenger side. It seems to be bent/dented/crimped on purpose to pass beneath the driveshaft. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their setup, and should i just get an h-pipe to bypass the driveshaft?

Which also leads me to whether i should get and h-pipe or a prochamber mid-pipe. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

im not trying to make fun of you but i wouldnt doubt if thats just where the exhaust bends and you think its bent. and where its bent it'll obviously be crimped on the inner part of the turn.

just take that junk out and get true duals

I will get pics up soon, but itschristorres8 it's deffinately not like that. it looks smashed down conveniently below the driveshaft. here's a diagram of where the dent is

I am going to get true duels soon, but should i go with straight pipes, h-pipe, or prochamber

then its more then likely you or the previous owner went over train tracks or speed bumps at one point fast and happen to ding that area or bend it.

the dent is on the top of the pipe facing the driveshaft though, not the ground

yes, but it doesn't seem like an x-pipe, as the piping doesn't cross till the cat-back meets the old mid-pipe

sounds more like a "y to y" setup to me

especially cuz up until recently the only KIT flowmaster sold was y to y and in my experience previous owners tend to use kits when they do any kind of modification.

ok so it is a Y pipe kit. Get pics of the dent cause most y kits are made to bolt right up and a dent is not supposed to be there

Ya there are plenty of ypipe duals out there, a ton of "dual" exhausts that are on stock cars stem from a Ypipe, hence not true duals. If the dent is on the wrong side then gg someone either A) installed it very poorly or B) they installed it very poorly and the driver bent it by getting some nice air. Either way you arent going to want to touch it until you get an hpipe and keep the mufflers you have now. Take it somewhere and they can put it all together, or have them just fab the straight pipes with a crossover (hpipe)

is the dent restricting your airflow? Thats what i'd be worried about. Gas mileage , performance etc...

If he didnt notice anything yet then I'm sure it'll be fine until he gets true duals, if he got true duals he would replace the bent pipe

The gas mileage may be suffering, but since it's been like this since i've gotten the car 1 month ago it would be tough for me to know. Anyway I got some pics, tell me what you think
