driving a V-6 in the heat

It gets really hot and humid here. I've noticed ( more with this car than my others) that after I've run it in the heat of the day for a while it tends to get sluggish. It especially happens in stop and go traffic in the city.

I expect a bit of hesitation when its so hot but it tends to be more prominent in my Mustang. Is this just a normal quirk of the V-6? Or could there be a maintenance issue like needing new plugs or something?

Ive had a few times where I've hit the gas and the car doesnt want to "get up". The engine revs good but its like the transmission doesnt want to engage or something. Thats only happened twice to my noticing though. Usually its just plain "tired" feeling. :sleep

Cezar-Thats what I get exactly. From dead stops. Once its going it seems ok. GF, Well i have the K&N FIPK which I assume is breathing alright. It was doing this with the stock set up before too.

I was thinking a tune up.. maybe the plugs are going bad er something. I just dont know.

If my air filter was getting a bit clogged, that could cause it too on take off right?

GOOD! That means its not the car design!... that means its something I can adjust or replace.

And ya, your right, it was hot as shit today... I havent adjusted yet for the summer... you know those days when you open your front door at 7:00 am and it feels like you just opened the door of a running dishwasher.

Hear hear! It gets up to 115 regularly here, 120 if God decides he hates us. I've even had the privilege of feeling 128 degree weather. Now thats an experience.

The city where I grew up (Yuma, AZ) made the travel channel a few years ago as the third hottest city in the world. We lost to someplace in the Australian desert and some town in South America that was smart enough to be built/rebuilt/rebuilt/rebuilt/rebuilt next to an active volcano. If that isn't hell, its at least hell's main seaport.

Luckily its usually less than 5% humidity, so all you can really feel is your skin cooking. Wonder how my mustang feels?

you know what stinks too, you cant easily get to the front of the radiator on an 04. Theres no easy way to clean all the dried up bugs and debris off the front.

I noticed you have a vert. Have you had any issues with the seals? I just had the one above the back pass window "fall off". Its crazy. I havent had too many problems except for what I think of as "quality issues" with Ford. Have you had to replace any of those seals yet?

also, nice exhaust tips. some people in this forum were saying they didnt like the tips without the "GT" bumper. I have mine under the stock bumper and I think it looks great because you can see more of it.
