Is this a battery problem?

Ok since the past 2 days, Ive been having starting problems...

Randomly my car sometimes does not turn on, I unlock the car the honk goes on and i open the door light goes on, i put the keys and try to turn it on and everything shuts off, lights etc nothing works.....

Then I open the DRIVERS side door and close it and i see my indash dvd player light on and i can turn on the lights again, and if i try to turn it on then it repeats and shuts off everything...

Only sometimes I quickly put the key in and try and turn it, it turns on

I have no idea whats going on, any help would be appreciated

(I have 2 12 inch subs and an amp in the trunk) if that means anything

Could be 3 things, battery, bad alternator or the starter.. When it starts does the battery light stay on? In that case its probably the alternator..
Go to advanced and they can test the battery and alternator..

My money is on the starter is on its way out

No the battery sign does not go on when i try and turn it on, all the lights in the car dies expect Theft which slightly blinks. Does anyone have any idea how much a new starter would be if its the reason its a bad starter

Go have your battery tested.
If its good.
Take some wreches up to the store, and pull the alternator.
Have it tested.

i read something interesting the other day in a.........well a bathroom.....anyway it said that if your key's chip is wearing out that will do it somtimes as well, if you have other keys on the same chain the metal from all of them on the same ring causes some interference with a weak chip. try taking all those other keys off the chain and using just your stang key. if it starts up, try doing that multiple times.

edit* it was from a popular mechanics magazine, not written on the stall next to that chicks number or anything.
