Weird...
So I was driving home from work yesterday evening, and after having been driving about ten minutes, I was looking for a parking spot here at the apartments. After I entered the gates, my engine starts shaking. The exhaust suddenly gets really loud and as I press on the break, the car becomes hard to slow down. After I get the speed down, I feel it wanting to just take off... as if it has a mind of its own. Once I let off the break a little it suddenly picked up speed and began shifting on it's own without me even stepping on the gas. As I pulled in to a parking spot (trying carefully not to let it overpower itself and take off again) I put the car in park and stepped out. The exhaust was extremely loud. I then went back into the car and noticed the Wrench indicator light had come on. So I figure damn, something's wrong. Then I turn the car off, wait a moment, then turn it back on. It runs normal, the exhaust is back to its usual tone, and the indicator light is gone. I pulled out the owner's manual and it said to contact the dealer as soon as possible if this light came on as it means there's a problem with the throttle.
This morning, I get up early and get to the service department at the dealership and explained what had happened. The mechanic told me it sounded like something was wrong with the computer since it behaved that way once and then was fine after that. So they take it in, I wait about an hour, and then he comes back saying that he found absolutely nothing wrong with the car. He said he tried reading the engine every way possible, and he was getting nothing. As such, he couldn't do anything without the indicator light being on and the problem persisting. He said it may be the engine adjusting to the warmer weather, and to let the engine run for a bit before driving it. I explained that I've had my car a year and a half and it's never done that before. Has anyone had this happen to them or know what it might be? I've talked to a few friends and no one has been able to say they know what the cause of such behavior might be. My car has 13,000 miles on it. I just changed the battery last week and put fresh Mobile 5000 in it (like I always have). After I put the battery and new oil it started driving like it did when I first got it... beautifully. So for this to have happened it's quite unexpected.

dont the 05-07 mustangs have the fly-by-wire throttle. Its not a direct cable connection to the throttle body, its actually computer controlled i believe. sounds like there may be something wrong with the computer or the gas pedal device that gauges how far your depressing the pedal is fudged up somehow.

My brother has the 05. This may sound dumb but check to make sure there is no interior "carpet" hanging down by the gas pedal.
Sounds like you have a ghost man!!!!!!! |

I don't know what it was. It was as if they car had a life of its own and decided to go for a drive without my consent. That and the way the engine was shaking and the sound of the exhaust was just weird. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. 97TunedMustang... yes, the '05+ Stangs have the fly-by wire throttle.

The good news is that it hasn't done it anymore, but who's to say it won't happen again? *sigh* Hopefully it won't.

All you have to do is just stick around mm more, and you'll be fine. Hell Youngin hasn't verbally obsessed over you in a long time you've been gone for so long.
