6er exhaust manifold

Just out of curiosity, is there a common problem with the 99-04 sixxers having an exhaust leak on the manifold? I remember seeing a few problems in these threads a while ago, JaSonic's comes to mind and unfortunately i can't find his contact info anymore lol.

Haven't gotten the time to take a good look for it, but was just wondering if it's common. Is this something that can just be patched up with a weld?

its very common. one day i was driving and my entire manifold cracked all the way around and became separated from the rest of my exhaust pipe right before the flange.

so get it fixed now because i just didnt have the time to care about it until it finally broke all the way around.

Makes sense, I'm guessing these can't be patched up with a weld? I'd prefer not to have to replace the whole manifold when I want to get rid of the car anyway.

I did notice my AC went out the same day I started hearing this problem (which was a year ago when it started )

IIRC it leaks out of a tube... so just re-route the tube with some like vacuum hose so that it drips away from the manifold

You are sort of correct. At least on my car the AC compressor had a drip pipe that was like 1/2 inch long. I added some high temp vacuum line to it and ran it down to the ground away from the manifold. Haven't had a problem yet. Plus the water puddle after running the AC doesn't pool under the block now. I ran my pipe back to the passenger door.

I would assume it would be the condensation on the return line of the AC, so maybe just something to cover it would work enough.

So I'm guessing the spot to look is going to be right around where the header meets right up to the midpipe then? The EGR line is right below the AC lines, so I checked that over a bit, but didn't find anything.

Delete that shit $12.57 at ford comes with a nice gasket and a cap for the header. Also makes doing LTs a lot easier.

I'm planning on just patching up this exhaust leak and selling the car, so I'm not worried about getting an EGR delete lol

There is a technical service bulletin, TSB 04-21-6, for that exact issue. You can take the car to a dealership and they can mount a drip shield over the manifold, or you can do it yourself. Unfortunately, it isn't free.
