Muffler question

Hi I have a 2000 V6 and was wondering if I could put cobra mufflers on it? As of right now I don't have the money to get duals yet but my friend will give me his 2 cobra mufflers..so could I cut off the stock muffler and weld on one of the cobra ones until I can get an h-pipe and then have them both? Also would it matter if I just put a turn down pipe right off the muffler and not all the way back to the bumper
thanks

think about it...if its just the muffler, whats stopping you from making it work. idk how much of a sound difference it will be, but yes you can cut out your muffler and weld a cobra one in there and dump it right after the muffler if youd like.

will not be worth the trouble...cobra mufflers are made for one thing...to quiet down a 32v...imagine now what that's gonna do for you 3.8

won't sound good, just wait until you have the money to do it right, it could possibly sound worse.

not enough to make it worth it...most guys that buy a GT catback will replace the OE mufflers with some cheap aftermarkets like Thrush

GT take offs are merely for the dual exhaust look... It's the right mufflers that makes the difference.

Sound-wise that is....

thanks for the advice I'm so glad I came here before actually dropping the money to do it!
but the only thing that makes me skeptical is that it sounded really good on my friends car, even tho it is a GT..are you definitely sure it won't be any louder?
