Get me into the 12's

I was adding on to another topic that was going and some guys recommend I start this topic so I wouldn't steal another persons topic. Yeah anyways, what do you think it would take to get a 1999 V6 into the 12 second range in the 1/4? I'm just shooting for 12's because I think that is respectable for a v6. I'm still gonna use this as my daily driver too, so I want it to be dependable. I know someone is gonna say to have the car blown, but I was gonna try a different route and go turbo with a street kit from TMA.

No it's a 5-speed manual right now. I think I might be able to do 12's with a good single turbo. An 8.8 with what 3.73's since it will be charged. I heard 4.10's will top you out before you get to the end of the track.

ok you wont need 20psi to hit 12s...you'd be hitting like 10s on a twin turbo set up with a built motor

you can:
power pak
bolt ons and nitrous

about $4k

4.2L engine
all bolt ons
4.10s with an 8.8
probably wont hit 12s with just that...most likely just mid low 13s
you'd need at least a 100shot

OR
4.2L
11psi procharger

4.2L turbo kit

dont forget fuel upgrades on the s/c and tubro kits

No I meant that I heard if your vehicle is not N/A, and is blown or charged, that 4.10s would make you top out before hitting the finish line. This isn't true?

actually you could just get a single turbo kit, 3.73s with a 8.8 rear and upgrade your injectors and fuel pump and run like 13psi. if your a good driver you should be able to kit 12s with that dependin on tires

vmptunning made 17psi with a STOCK BOTTOM end, and stock heads and cam at 450rwhp and nailed 10.98 in the 1/4 on slicks
with 13 psi on DRs or a decent set of street tires you should be able to hit 12s

No not unless you were runnin 10's like he said. it would have to be so fast that you could run out of gearing in the 1/4 mile which is only going to happen if you were able to run a 10

no
unless your car is hitting 10 flat, and even then i wouldnt worry about it as much but 9sec cars and lower dont run 4.10s or 4.30s

if your car was meant for drag and you wanted 12s
truthfully i think a 4.2L cam, p/p job, full bolt ons and some good heads with DRs and a 4.56 gear ratio
i think you could nail high high 12s like 12.9ish

yea and most people hitting 10s will only trap about 130sih 135mph
you shouldnt run out of gear then on a turbo or s/c set up....which would be the only way a sixer would see 10s unless they ran like a 300shot
9 second cars trap like 140-150

Hey what is the purpose of an egr block off plate? Does it just stop hot gasses from re-entering the manifolds? What will it affect by doing this, like gas mileage or pressure problems with the engine. I know people are saying that it will cause the comp to throw a code and to just get a egr simulator to plug into the harness to fool the comp. But besides that is there anything major it would affect?

20psi your insane

my build that should put me in the 11's

moser 8.8 with eaton locker
lentech terminator AODE terminator tranny with 3500rpm stall (AUTO)
machined and rebuilt block with APR studs, performance head gaskets, and full forged internals
either tma kit, or custom rear mount turbo at 14-16 psi
full street/strip suspension

400rwhp build will put you in the 11's

of and for turbo your not going to want over 3.55 gears.
