17" rims all around, what tire size performs best on our cars?

I hear all the time about some people having larger tire size in the back vs up front, what sizes have you guys gone with and had great experience with.

Stick with normal sized tires. If you have no real use for a wider tire then why spend the extra money? You won't see much benefit if your not putting down that much power. But wide tires in the rear do look great.

Btw I edited your post a little bit, street racing discussion is not allowed here.

imo definitely go 18x9 and 18x10, and put some fat tires in the rear, i regret going 17x9 all around.

now when you say 17 X 10.5. im assuming 17 is rim size but how does the last number equate to actual tire size terms of example 245/55/17?

I have 17x9s on all 4, with 275/40/17 tires. Its been a good setup for me though if I had the bank at the time, I would have went with 10.5s and 315s on the back. Looks for one, traction for another. If looks is more important than traction, then a small spacer will achieve a similar look

He means his wheel is 10.5 inches wide, which means he can fit a 315 width tire on it.

I have 18x9 rim with 245/45/18 tires on the front and 18x10 rim with 275/45/18 on the back and the staggered look is awesome if you can afford it, do it.

You already have different wheels though....are you looking to get new wheels or whatt??
If you have the same size wheels front and rear then you can't put wider tires on the rears...well I guess you could but not much

I run 245/45/ZR17. I think they're Hankooks. I don't remember though - Pep Boys was having a sale. I had new wheels and needed tires. That's all I know.

Well if all four wheels are 17x9 then I would recommend sticking with 245/45/17 tires on all four wheels, that way its going to be cheaper, and you'll be able to rotate them to make them last longer.

The widest I would go on a 9in wide wheel is 255, 265 would probably work but wouldn't look right.

yessir no problem. I have 245/45/18 tires on my 9 inch wheel and its tucked in a little bit, doesent offer much rim protection. Next time I will be getting 255's on the front and probably 285's out back if I can find them

245/45/17 is a very common tire size and you can probably find them for significantly less than a 255 tire.

Ummmm false... I've got 275s all around on my my cobra rs. Looks perfectly fine to me, although I do want to go 255s on the front.
