Aftermarket cruise control

Long story short, I drove another new edge over the week and its cruise control buttons were on the steering wheel. Mines on a peg next to my blinker and steering wheel adjuster. Its double sided (labels on both sides) which leads me to believe that it is meant to be mounted on either side of the wheel.

It's never worked since I owned the car (about a year ago) and I never knew if I was using it wrong or if it was broken. I traced the wires down under the dash and found two dead ends. Can I plug these in somewhere to get them to work? Is this system original or aftermarket (i.e. if its original its probably easier to plug somewhere)

Nope, hasn't worked since I bought the car last year. Don't know if it ever has, trying to figure out is someone maybe pulled the plugs out of somewhere by mistake or if its going to be really hard to actually get to work. I couldnt see anywhere to plug them in so I'm leaning towards not working or it broke and tries to kill the driver so they unplugged it

Do you even have a second throttle cable for the cruise control in your engine bay hooked up to your TB ?

Feb isn't actually that early, but it's not the end either. My 00 was built in Oct 99.

Not true. After searching around I've found other 99+ mustangs that people put cruise in aftermarket (all had a store install for them though so they dont know how it works) Not all mustangs are created equal

My 2001 doesnt have Cruise. Nor does it have the second TB cable. Have always wondered about getting maybe an electric cruise rather than a Cabled cruise.

aftermarket, from what it looks like someone snatched the module that is supposed to be under there that those pig tails connect to.

Where did you get that info from? Mine doesn't have cruise. Nor does it have the correct bracket on the throttle body for an extra cable.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The wires are too short to go anywhere and there was nothing I could see to plug it into.

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy a setup like this (or maybe just the module?) I did a google and ebay search and couldn't find any mustang specific (or even generic) cruise control setups. Maybe they stopped making it because of the liability

I have a 2001 w/o cruise control.

Cruise was not available on the base car ($17K). You had to buy a deluxe ($20K) or premium coupe ($23K). My first new edge was a 2003 true blue premium coupe with saddle interior bought new off the dealer lot. This 2001 is a silver base model with dark charcoal interior bought used from an Enterprise car lot. I really miss that beautiful blue color. The saddle interior not so much.

I'm interested in cruise control but have not seen a system that would look right in my car. The junk they sell at Sears and JC Whitney makes me want to hurl on sight!

Anybody know where to get a quality aftermarket cruise control system?
