You remind me of a guy who drives an 08 cobalt and fellls the need to shift the auto like its a stick and he actually will let off the gas shift then slam it and repeat he has gone threw a trans mission thus far...stop messing with you auto like its a stick and leave it in od or 4th

Your gears are as followed
1,2,3, o/d
Or
1,2,3,4
Same thing

Actually your car doesn't run crapy with o/d on the only way it will run crapy is if your in o/d and your doing about 45 all the stangs I've driven and rode in doing 45ish in 4th will feel like its bogging if you notice when your in 4th doing about 45 your rpms are like 1200ish mabey 1300ish...to me I always kept od off till I hit 50 then I turned it back on and nvr toched it lol

This thread gave me a goooood laugh sorry lol
Man some of you people just ruined this forum/ Your so quick to jump and flame people that you dont even fully read the statement or question... my goodness chill out..

When did I ever say that I shift my auto like a stick?

All I said is with OD off the car feels and drives better and I like turning it off thats it.

Never once did I say i like shifting through gears on the street with my auto manually or whatever..

Man i swear some of you need lives

I never manually shift my auto, never have I done this and never did I say it. I just stated I like OD off

i'm sure my tuned auto shifts better than you manually shifting an auto.

if you like o/d off, then leave it off. not hard to hit the button every time you take it out of park, make it a habit to do both at once, but you're only decreasing the life of your engine and increasing potential for problems.
Who in the hell said I want to shift?

Then why make a whole thread about it? Overdrive has a very valid purpose, as does having a button to turn it off. I still don't think you understand this but whatever, it's your car. Keep your overdrive off all the time if that's what you really want.

Everyone has tried to explain to you how it works and why you should normally keep it on but all you do is get pissed off at the people taking time out of their day to try to help you. This whole thread could have been avoided had you just looked up the purpose of overdrive on your own.

There's no way in hell I'd go without overdrive (well, 5th gear for me). Mommy and daddy don't pay for my gas and with 4.10s I'm not getting awesome gas mileage as it is.

So just turn it off. I don't think I've ever known anyone who would rather run 4th gear than 5th on the highway if they had a choice.

IMHO the only time you should shift an automatic like a manual is at the drag strip.

And the only reason I say this is the car likes to jump from 1st to 2nd at a very low speed. And this can be changed at WOT with a tuner.

I shift my auto like a manual around town to get better mpg, and yes I can do it better than a computer. around town without touching the shifter it gets around 15-17 when I do it I get around 19-21ish. But I'm rarely ever in town with the new job so the shifter doesn't get much shifting action but I do like to hold it while driving. Makes me feel like a man. :-P

This button comes in handy when cruising in heavy traffic where you might want to pass. With O/D on, and you try to pass the car has to downshift in order to pick up speed quickly. If you have the O/D off during these situations, you can just hit the throttle and be at optimum gearing to pass... but this post does seem troll'ish.

I always drive with O/D unless I'm aiming for a spirited, high revving drive. There's no reason not to use it. It's a great feature in automatics that'll save you money at the tank.

No, YOU need to chill out. Every time I see you posting it's the same bullshit like this. Get your panties out of a bunch, settle down, and don't mention things like shifting an auto if you don't want people to think you shift your auto. Is it really that damn difficult?

Again, YOU mentioned shifting an auto. You don't have to say "I shift my auto" because when you mention something about shifting an auto, people are going to assume that you do it. Don't want people to think you do it? DON'T MENTION IT.

Jesus fucking Christ...
