Exhaust Question

So I got a $50 AutoZone gift card today. I was wondering if I bought a Flowmaster 40 muffler if there was a way that I could bolt it on to my stock exhaust setup. Like, cut off the stock muffler and bolt on a new flowmaster 40? (This would probably be temporary until I get duals).

yes you can do it, if its just temp. use exhaust clamps, i just redid the exhaust on my old chevy pickup and i used those, tighten them up and you should be good to go, but i recomend just saving that gift card and save up to get two flows for your duals. Just my .02 though, good choice on flows though

if your dead set on getting a flowmaster muffler then thats not a bad choice.

i would say thats a good start because you can always get a second in the future when u go duals.

edit: the inlet is 2.25"

2.25" i believe is stock v6 tubing...it's been so long since i've had that lol so i forget

as for off set...

you'll want the reverse of this for the driver side...when you go duals this offset would be for the passenger side...

That's what I did... Got 1 flow40, used it for a while until I could afford the dual exhausts setup. I won't lie... I hated it. Sound improvement is little to none.

The good thing though... I only had to buy 1 more flow40 later on when I was ready for duals!

Then maybe just make separate savings for the duals, then use the $50 card for car maintenance stuff...

With that card, I would buy:
-that $15 White LED dome light...(could be cheaper on eBay if you can find it)
-armorall liquid polish $10 (yes I've tried it, it's pretty good)
-mother's back to black $10(?)
-turtlewax tire gel $6 (?) (I love that shit)
-engine degreaser.... (My engine is pretty much stock v6 with a few horses... At least I could brag about it being clean)
-them little trees air fresheners... $3(?) not the best but oh well! Lol

I'm not too picky or particular with my car stuff but I do have my favorites without exaggerating on the price...

Flowmaster 40's FTW. but i would save that gift-card for maintenance purposes as mentioned above. Just dont get your dual exhaust until you have enough saved up for everything (ex..two mufflers). you dont want want to sound like its broken in and the other to be brand new. weirdness.

Honestly, not at all... I've used one muffler for at least a year before I got the other one... Only difference with sound is the obvious popping sound of a brand new muffler which went away after a while. As far as sound, they're pretty much the same... Still, I'd recommend installing both mufflers the same time though.

They aren't different offsets...just flip the muffler upside down.

JakeAbraham - We can’t imagine that would sound great with two different mufflers, but if that get’s you one step closer to the dual mufflers you want, more power to you. Good luck on your AutoZone adventure.

please read before posting or you may cause confusion...he wants to swap the oe muffler with a flow 40...as in clamp it in until he can afford a dual setup at which point he will buy a second flow 40 and have the right side fabbed up. i hope that cleared things up for you because you were far off with your post
