Windstar Intake
Does anyone know if I would need a re-tune for replacing a windstar intake for my CAI?

No you don't. I went from stock intake/upper to windstar and don't have any problems. Although a tune would really help bring some extra power out of it.

lol@you guys
i was just gonna say if he's got an auto not to wait on the tuner and just get it now, shifting is night and day, and throttle response seems better. |

Windstar is good on its own. A tune does make it better.
The runners are longer than stock so it's worthwhile to try changing the IMRC switch point. I'd recommend 3200 rpm instead of the stock 3300 rpm. It does not seem like much but if you look at the load and MAF curves from data logging you will see this little tweak gets rid of an irksome "dead spot". Even a completely stock car will benefit from a dyno tune. The factory provides one tune for all cars that is a compromise between fuel economy, reliability and performance. What is worse is that no two MAF sensors are exactly the same. Add variability between fuel pressure sensors and you start to see the potential for a tune to make a big difference. As a last point, I think Ford was deliberate in rating the 3.8 Mustangs at less than 200 hp. They wanted to encourage folks to buy a GT and spend a LOT more on that new car purchase. In my opinion, all 3.8 Mustangs were deliberately detuned from the factory to help with CAFE and for marketing purposes. Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. Yes the car's an auto. I currently have a tune for the car. I only have a CAI so i was wondering if the tune for the Windstar would be different then the tune I currently have for the CAI.
Basically i'm wondering if its worth buying the new tune or just waiting for a few more power mods before I get the new tune.
