Mustang V6 Cold Air Intake Kit at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
I was thinking of buying a CAI but i dont want to spend 200+ right now on a branded CAI, should i wait or will this do for now?

That'll work great. I ran the AM brand on my 1996 v6. I'd do it again the same way

It's nice to clean up the engine bay. Gains are very minimal but you get a little whistle at higher RPMs (which is fun when dumb people ride with you). It will rust after a while, especially if you drive in the rain and snow a lot (but most of the rust is just on the plate holding the filter in the fender). I got bored and painted mine a few weeks ago (was tired of the rust look)

windstar ftw.
My car whistles pretty damn loud. I let my buddy drive my car and you could hear it from like 30-40 yards away if you're in front of the car. I like to tell stupid people its my blower. |

I suppose I should also mention, that CAI works basically as well as the high priced CAIs. Like 01Silver said, a Windstar swap is better if you want real gains but it is more expensive than a CAI.

I'll probably end up doing a little write-up on it, but I want to see how the paint holds up on the chrome first. It's still looking good so far.

Awesome, I'll keep an eye out, as I have heard that can be problematic.

That's nice Mcqueen. never thought about doing it white. Why dont you use high engine enamel? might hold up stronger then the doller rattle can paint. or 5 doller primer can then doller can paint lol.

I can vouch for the CAI from American Muscle. Works as well as any other, no real gains but you'll feel a slight bit difference in throttle power, etc. It's a nice, cheap addition that you'll have fun with for a while.

In addition to this you may want to do a accelerator pedal mod. Costs like $2 and takes a whole five minutes to do yourself. I'll find the link and post it give me a second. Found it, Mustangworld - 99 - 00 Gas Pedal Adjustment tip

Do the 2001 models have the accelerator problem listed above?

Yes. I believe that link was just never updated to include the 01-04 models, but there is slack in their throttle cables so that little mod works on 99-04s.

Just make sure you sand, prime, and do a couple coats and it will be fine
