V6 to V6.... swap

okay so this prolly isnt seen to much, but I was thinking. I want more power, but not loosing much fuel milage.. so why not stay a v6? i was thinking about swapping to a 05+ mustang v6 motor. any thoughts on this? this is what I want to know.

- has anyone done this?
- what issues will i have?
- whats the power/ torque gain?
- whats the fuel milage difference?

thanks yall

well, go see what a 4.0 puts out and add a lil for less weight ?
big ol mod motor in our lil car
pretty worthless power gain

You sir need to do a tune up and turbo your car. that will increase you mpg if you can keep your foor of the turbo

205hp i think in the 4.0 ...
pretty useless swap.
im sure that 3.7 is expensive ish
do the 2.5 eco boost :p

but a turbo will give you power and better mpg. Talk to Kyle (esg) on that one. Him and another guy here JT are selling kits now.

The 4.0 is rated at 210/240 compared to the 3.8's 190/225.
So not worth the effort really.
The new edge is a couple hundred pounds lighter also, so the weight to power ratio probably doesn't help much either.

Yeah those numbers are crank numbers. So rear wheel you're looking at like 160/190 for a new edge and probably 170-180/210 for a 4.0.

It is. if you scroll up i said 3.8, aka the new edge split port.
The 2011 3.7 is rated at 305/280, so it's probably making about 270/250 or so.

Granted the rwhp numbers I'm coming up with are all guestimates but still.

Yeah the single port 3.8 like you have is slow as balls.
I think they're rated at like 150

I think a 4.0 swap would be too much work for such a little gain, at least to me. You could swap in a split port 3.8 or just do a split port swap much easier. Although I do like the 3.7 idea. Gains like that would be worth the work.

The rear wheel starter numbers are ~253/245. Now a few simple bolt ons like mine and you have 290hp/270tq at the tires. Nice gains but for $2000.00 its a bit expensive for ~40hp/tq.

$50 per hp/tq isn't too bad. I think that's similar to the cost of boosting a 94-04 V6.
