What would this noise be.
So, about three months ago, I had to replace the clutch in my car. its got about 2k on it since then, and its an awesome clutch. about 3 weeks ago though, a noise started, well, making a noise. it only starts to make it when the cars been on for a while, and it also only happens in 2nd gear. Its like a slight rattle/loose noise in between the motor and transmission. My dad thought that it was the bottom end making it, but i am thinking that now that it shifts harder, the transmissions taking a tougher toll on it. Any ideas? maybe i am not describing it enough.

if you could take a video it would be great. although the way you describe it, sounds like you are losing 2nd gear or the clutch you put in was installed incorrectly and causing extra stress on the transmission.

I always think TOB first....What kind of clutch was it? Duralast(I think) clutches are known for weak TOB's

Never use an aftermarket TOB. Always get a Ford OEM TOB

How loud is this noise? Is it something a trained ear must listen for or would any 5 year old off the school yard notice and ask about it?
Thanks,

sorry about the wait guys, forgot i even posted this. way too busy with work haha.
there's also a VERY distinct noise coming from my rear end now. When I'm slowing down, it sounds like every rotation the drive goes through it makes it. its from the rear, and its like a knock. and it was a F1 clutch. It is already making the squeal noise if i dont let up off the clutch all the way, so it may well be the tob. fml. i just replaced all this shit not too long ago. |
