windstar swap

ok ive been thing about swaping my stock intake for a windstar on my 2001 bc of all the hype that its the best mod for our car besides for a turbo. but i got a few questions. would i still be able to use my k&n CAI or would i have to get a different one? or is there some way to make it work? and yes i know i should have went with a sheap CAI but i was young and nieve.lol does it still fit under the stock hood? plus if i wanted to add a strut tower brace later would it fit under it? o and down the road if i decided to turbo it would it still work with a turbo?

To answer your questions.
No, you might be able to use part of the CAI though.
Yes it fits under the stock hood, although mine has made a mess of my hood liner.
Strut tower brace I'm not sure.
Yes with a turbo with some pipe fabbing. But I doubt you will ever get a turbo tbh

Did you install yours yourself? Is it a hard install?

I used a SRI for a GT on mine. The K&N won't work though. I made mine myself thought. It will fit under stock hood if you use VAP's kit. Yes you can fit a strut tower brace on though.

i figured what i could proly do if it aint too big is get some extra tubing and some elbows and throw the air filter down in the fender so i would be able to reuse that. other than that i assume its pretty easy to install? i could proly do it all within a day u think?

Yes I did, no not really. Hardest parts include alittle bit of sawing and some soldering.
You can do it in a few hours if you don't run into any problems.

Yup. about 2 hours. The hardest part is rewiring and rerouting the vacuum lines. I have seen the fender thing down with the filter on a WS though.

I would also recommend rather than shortening the coolant tube, to just remove it. I used a Mini-Pipe cutter.

It was right around $10 for the stuff to remove it. You need:
5/8 plastic T (made for coolant)
(2) 6" pieces of 5/8 coolant hose (so 1')
(4) Hose clamps (comes in a pack of 4 at AZ)
