Rear Brakes Locking Up?!

Hey guys,
So I recently did an overhaul on the rear breaks (pads, rotors, brackets, and calipers) and since then whenever i pull the ebrake to put my top down (v6 vert) the rear brakes lock up and dont release until a long time later. A friend said that its possible that it just needs new lines and hoses. Any suggestions and tips?

Thanks,
JD

Sounds like there is something wrong with your E brake. That is on a cable so it should be easy enough to fix. Welcome to the forums.

Did you use the caliper tool to spin the pistons back into the calipers when you did your overhaul, or did you attempt to compress the pistons in with a c-clamp? If you did the latter, you may have damaged the calipers. It's a common mistake, which is why I ask.

Thanks for the generous hospitality... About the calipers, to tell ya the truth a family friend thats a master mechanic did my rears for me, as I have little mechanical knowledge, I'm pretty sure he used a caliper tool. The e-brake being the issue makes a little more sense cause my 6er is A/T and I never really use it. Can someone point me to a DIY or info on fixing/replacing the e-brake?

i had to get a tool for mine after my rear end swap, and ended up replacing the pass side master cylinder
