Windstar problem.

Hey guys I need some help. I ran into a few problems with my windstar install. I got the full kit from vap. Everything with the install was smooth until I started the car and took it for a drive around the block. Here are the problems:

1. Coolant started leaking by the top of the overflow tube. During install, I ended up losing the overflow bolt and replacing it with a new one, could this be causing my leak prob?

2. There's a vacuum leak right behind the TB. I kept the old intake gasket on with the new ones on the windstar.

3. After doing a test drive around the block I noticed a check engine light when I parked in my driveway. I can't remember the code but it had to do with the cylinder head being to hot

I feel like I messed up somewhere. Any help and/or suggestions are appreciated.

Don't use 2 gaskets on your TB.
Check your MAF + connector too, if its not plugged in you can throw that code, it happened to me when a mechanic forgot to re-connect it after fixing my A/C. Take your battery off for 20 mins after you check it. Putting some electrical grease on the connector wont hurt either.

If you're losing coolant it might throw the cylinder head too hot code.
And I had to get gasket paper and make my own gaskets for the TB. None of the store bought ones worked and I had a vacuum leak.

Maf is plugged in.
Ok, I'll try removing one of the TB gaskets (2 came with my kit).

Im going to try topping off the coolant today. I heard that some times the overflow tube cracks when bending it. I hope its not that.

Thanks guys

The way the gaskets on the TB should go is
Windstar > Gasket > Angled TB Spacer > Gasket > TB
I had to make my own like I said.

The bolt for the coolant overflow pipe is national pipe thread (npt). You can get npt fittings at the plumbing section of most hardware stores. I believe the plug you need is 1/4" npt (even though it looks way better than 1/4" in diameter).

If you cut a bit too low, then you will need teflon tape (plumber's pipe sealing tape) or gasket sealant to stop the leaking. Teflon tape did the trick for me.

You can try using the Windstar throttle body gasket instead of the Mustang paper one. The Windstar gasket is a like a rubber O-ring with a rectangular loop too. You'll just need to snip off the rectangular portion to make it work with the VAP kit.

The check engine light could be due to your vacuum leak. You'll need to get the codes to see for sure.

I had them set up like this rEmoved 1 and it got worse. putting it back tomorrow.
The damn vacuum port for the iac also came off, what's the best way to fix this? I left my old lower to upper intake gasket on, is that bad?

I also found my coolant leak. It was coming from the new bolt, I used Teflon tape and gasket sealer and thAt should solve that prob. Thanks 4 the advice.
Now it's just the vacuum leak bothering me, I think it could be a few things: the iac port that came off, TB gasket not working, or if that old gasket that I left on is the prob..Working on this tomorrow any thing else I should check out?

You need to take the old lower to up gasket off. The Windstar has rubber o ring type gaskets that seal it up. As far as the TB leak, I recommend just getting some gasket paper and an exacto knife and making your gasket. Use the TB spacer as the template.
Worked for me.
