Need some Cam tech
When setting up the valvetrain you bring the each cylinder to top dead center, tq rocker hold down bolt to 22-29ftlbs and turn the hold down 1/4 turn to set preload correct?
How do you set the cps with an alignment tool? Went throught the steps swaping my current cam with a bigger one and having issues here. I'm thinking my problemb is either a vaccuum leak or the timing is off. It will turn over and fire but shuts off right after. When it does shut off I hear the compression leak out slowlly but cant make it to the engine to see where it's coming from.

it sounds like the timing is off, you have a stuck lifter, or maybe a loose spark plug?

oh dear lol
I just put my cps back in the way it came out :p If you put #1 in perfect TDC, it lines up just fine. You put it in turned just a little bit, that way it follow the curve of the teeth on the gears and will line up. My UDP HB has a mark on it and I got my head between it and the radiator and spotted it. Lined it up directly with the TDC mark on the engine block. Previously, knowing Id have to do that, I checked to make sure then lined up they were corretly placed in TDC ( this was with the heads off and T/C off to see alignment of cam and crank sprockets. My stock HB didn't have a mark, so you may need to take your timing cover off to find "Perfect" TDC. |
