a problem and question

so i dont know if this is the appropriate spot or not but the other day my cd player in my car quit working. it still plays the radio but it will not play my cd's its the mach 460 system with the 6 disc cd changer. everytime i press the cd button to play a cd it reads cd error and i cant eject any of the cds. it doesnt even make ne noise when i press the button like it is trying to play. the other day it worked in the morning when i went to work but when i got off work and started my car it automatically read cd error. ive done tried unhooking the battery. my question is how can i fix it or is it fried?

on a mechanical note. ive noticed that my transmission puts off alot of heat. its a 5 speed and i was wondering if that was normal for them or not. and if its not normal what could be the problem?

well for the mechanical question, you may need to replace your fluid. and this is my 100 post

1. I would guess your cd player went bad. Consider this a good time to upgrade to an aftermarket headunit. Check out crutchfield.com. You can get pretty good deals there plus they carry all the wire harness adapters and whatnot that you'll need (sometimes they have deals where all those goodies are included for free).

2. When my car was still running, my tranny put off a lot of heat as well, even after the tranny fluid was changed after a clutch replacement. You could try replacing the fluid, but I think the T5's may just run a little hot.

Ford had a lot of problems with their 6 disc CD changers in the early 2000s, my moms windstar has the same issue, and it comes and goes in my car, I've got the Mach system too, I would look up a new headunit though

as far as the trans. issue, what do you mean puts off a lot of heat? like you can feel it inside the car through the shifter boot?

Shift boot is warm, center console is warm, heat radiates up through the hole for the parking brake? That's what mine did. It never gave me any problems though.

happens to me sometimes, all i do is remove the cd player and unplug it, then reinstall it. works everytime, gotta love ford craftsmanship. and manual transmissions are always hot, only automatics come with the oil cooler.
