Loose clutch pedal?

I have had a progressive issue with what I 'think' is a loose clutch pedal. It seams that at lower rpm 1300-2000 range, especially under braking or as I am slowing in neutral that the clutch pedal seems to vibrate or at times i can actually look down and see movement in the pedal. Does it just need to be tightened or is this a clutch cable issue? any opinions or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

If you've got the windows down can you hear a squealing or squeaking noise? When my TOB starting going out, my clutch pedal vibrated quite a bit.

And my feet are very ticklish so it was a bit difficult to drive

Throwout bearing is going bad. It's like a $50 part but you have to drop the transmission so take this opportunity to replace your whole clutch if it's got a decent amount of miles on it (I got 100k out of my stock clutch with less than 20% left when I had it changed). Get a Ford OEM throwout bearing, don't trust the aftermarket ones (they're known to go bad in no time).

So i guess another question is how much 'play' should be in the pedal, like how much should i depress the pedal before you start hitting tension so actually engage the clutch?

Mine has tension from the second I push it. There's really no play in my clutch.

What kind of TOB are you using? Ford OEM works best.

My stock one went out, then I made the huge mistake of getting a Duralast cause I was in dire need of a clutch kit. So that is the one that is going out atm. I remember you telling me before to get the Ford OEM one, so when I get around to changing it out i'll replace it with that.

Good stuff, man. I know there's a website that sells it, I just can't remember the site (most only carry the V8 TOB). I think Mr Red Pony might have the link.

Mine did this a few years back, i installed a Steeda clutch assembly. The clutch, which probably had a bad TOB at the time, lasted a few more years till i had to replace that. The clutch pedal adjust for the cheap plastic clutch quadrant that ford gives wears works fine until it starts to bend and warp. The metal one from steeda allows for you to adjust the height for clutch engagement, and the pedal shouldn't vibrate.
