full bolt on 4.2L ?

No matter what I'm going with twin turbo for my car next year
but while i have the engine im taking my UD pulley and putting it on the 4.2L and the xcal2, and getting a new MAF, ported 65mm or 70mm throttle body and intake for the 4.2L

heres the question though, i didnt plan on changing or swapping the stock gear ratio 3.27 on the 8.8 rear end. and i dont plan on getting long tubes for obvious reasons

but im curious

is it worth for the time being (while waiting for the turbo kit $$) to get long tubes, o/r H pipe and 3.90 gears to see what the 4.2L engine makes and runs at the track?

now that cost would be about-$350-ceramic coated headers
$150 for gears
o/r h pipe $150 so a total of $650 and another $150 to install the gears so $800

For people like me, SSStang, 97stanger and greenfaleen and others we're all curious what the 4.2L would make n/a just bolt ons im sure...or at least i'am

but idk if i wana spend $800 towards that...when i can get a nitrous kit or have more money towards the turbo kit sooner

i could probably re-sell it all for maybe $300-$400

but Is it worth it?

You have to remember depends where your 4.2L was built, how they ported the heads, etc. etc....

I'm pretty sure a full bolt on 4.2L should push about 260rwhp .....

we all know what a TT 4.2L will do -

Oh and Chris, you aint got nothing on this...

he cant drive, i remember i saw a video when he first got it, i forget how many lbs of boost he was running and ran like high 13s

if iget the 4.2L it'll be from precision most likely, stage heads, p/p upper and lower intake with a performance cam.
the engine will be built for what im gonna throw at it

i just wana see if with 4.10s (not 3.90s) and full bolt ons and DRs if it'll tough 13 flat

looking at it the intercooler has to be hooked up to the intake with some kinda dual port fabrication to the vortech intake....either way we'll never see the photochop engine work

Did you say the guy in the red v6 cant drive? running 11.1s?

And some weird way... if he ... like could make a 3rd inlet for the intercooler and pipe the vortech their.... and then make like a 5" intercooler outlet...

it could work... maybe?

and its on crappy t3/t4 turbos / not ball bearing -

its on an every day street tune / not a race gas tune

and if that were a hard top at stock wt it would be in the 10s easy?

Being auto may have been a disadvantage, but i wouldnt throw in the towel becuz of that. Buddy of mine, Martin, turbocharged his Mach 1 and ran straight 11s being an automatic. Ok, so its only one example.. but it sure impressed me. I mean, I myself have an automatic too.

or was it a mach 1 running on stock tires with dr's ?

think about it ...

I would do the gears and not the headers.

I dont i think the headers would give a decent gain of 20ish hp

still not sure which to do...
would it be worth it?

It does sound a bit more reasonable to do gears first, then do the header work. I can see how that would fall into good measure.

Personally, I have almost a full bolt on setup on my 3.8L block. Kinda paranoid that when I swap all the stuff onto the new 4.2L, some stuff wont fit right. I mean, it SHOULD all go well since it is the same motor, just work done on the inside, but I guess Im just a paranoid person like that.

Maybe I should just not worry as much. heh.
