Why do I lose traction so easily stock mustang. Think i might have 4.10's. ???

I got Pirelli P Zero Nero / Nero M+S PIRELLI****PZERO NERO M+S tires on my car. Good tires but something makes me think I have different gears rear end.

Like when the street is slightly wet or even like one time there was a little dirt on the road when I barely feather touch the pedal my rear tires spin and I like lose grip sometimes.

I mean this is in the low rpm range. I dont speed or nothing when taking off, I just slightly touch the pedal and my tires spin so easily..

This happens whenever ground is slightly wet or when there is some dirt on road or anything like that.

So i wonder does anybody other STOCK Mustangs do this.

My Mustang is stock except for KN air filter and dual flowmaster exhaust.

So I;m thinking I might have those 3.73 gears or 4.10's or something

lol tires spin in wet conditions or even in dirt...but if you want to know then jack up the ass of your car...mark the driveshaft iwth a sharpie and then spin the tire slowly..one full rotation of the tire is what you want to do....count how many times the driveshaft completes a rotation and that'll tell you the gearing..

if it's just over 3 rotations you're stock...3 3/4 is in the 3.73 range and just over 4 will be 4.10s...15 minutes of work will give you 100% confirmation

I was saying that my car always loses traction whenever I accelerate at all in rain or another slippery surface.

And don't forget, rattles/squeaks are fixed with louder exhaust and better audio equipment.

If I'm thinking of the right impala's....their FWD they are less likley to spin...all there weight is in the front...in out stang the only think to hold our rear down....giggity is the axel weight and trunck ect.... and if her impala is like my gf's impala it has traction control

You probably have stock gears.

Honestly, those tires aren't that great (especially if they're old), and you've got an open diff, so it's much easier to spin a tire (as you only have to spin one). You also didn't tell us what size of tire you're running, for all we know you've got 195s. Couple that with the tremendously crappy stock rear suspension, possibly blown shocks, and wet/dirty pavement, and you've got a recipe for instant wheelspin.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but alone breaking traction means nothing besides a lack of grip. What rpms are you at when cruising at 60mph in 5th gear?

...or you have really shitty tires?

Do the wheel/driveshaft mark trick. Had to do it today with a freakin KW T800.

Just as a thought, traction and gears aren't synonomous. There's a lot more at play here, such as suspension, tires, engine torque, diff type, etc...

My stang with 3.55's hooks better than a friend's with stock gears (and even a lowly Buick Century). I've got better tires, and you can really feel the difference in suspensions based on how mine launches. The PO certainly dialed it in well for that, I can dump it at 4k without a chirp, but it feels like you just got fired out of a cannon.
