Doesn't look to bad, but don't forget to prep for paint and lay down some primer first...if you have small imperfections in your hood, scratches, small dents ect. I would suggest getting some filler primer. It really helped my hood look 10X better than it did originally. Also bear in mind that black is an EXTREMELY unforgiving color, and any imperfections will be very obvious. I would throw down 2 coats of primer and 3-5 light coats of the color and 2-4 coats of clear. But I tend to overdo things sometimes. When I painted my hood, It took me about 3/4 can per coat. I'm sure McQueen will chime in and hit anything that I've missed.

Well my plan is to make the car Black and Blue,
Black Hood and "MAYBE Roof.." Trunk/Spoiler, Gas Cap, Rims.. Just a bunch of Black and blue without going too.. Ricer. Was planning on just doing Hood and spoiler, And seeing how well they turned out first. |

I don't think it looks too bad when the inserts are left the color of the hood like McDuke did. It offsets the black a little.
Edit: like this (except his is satin)

Yeah I think center of the hood down through the grille would look really cool. I was just talking to someone the other day who basically wanted to do that with a NE V6 hood.

Non-scoop one. I told him I wasn't sure how good it would look, but after seeing that I think it could pull it off. That's actually a lot cooler than I thought it would be

yeah it's the only way i think you can put black on the hood and make it look finished and not just thrown on there...but thats just an opinion

Of course I'm kind of picky, and I've been spoiled by paint guns and high quality paint. It will work, but I will say 2 things: 1.) Prep is important! You definitely want to put lots of effort into preparing it for paint, especially with sub-par paint. I will comment that Duplicolor doesn't take well to fine sanding before paint. It would bead up like crazy on a 600-grit surface, I got better results with 320-grit I believe. 2.) Expect lots of sanding afterwards. It probably won't look that great, but you can fix it with a little sandpaper, possibly some water/soap.

i think it's the hood and the dark color paint...think about it...on a scooped hood, cowl hood, or cobra style v6 hood it would look alot more aggressive...
