I really can't speak for the Kumho's in that size, but I have the ASX's on my GT. They have good grip for spirited backroad driving and have fairly good wet handling characteristics while being fairly quiet at highway speeds. The only down fall to them IMHO, is that they roll on their sidewalls more than expected.

My Stang' is running low on Tread, Which isn't good.
Because when I try to put some power down, I spin my wheels;
Even when I'm going 13-16 MPH.. I can floor it in First and Spin a Wheel, Sometimes Both.

And one day, When a Honda Civic, With a fart can.. beats me because of Wheel spin and bad tires.. I'm going to cry.

Hell, I have a 400$ Budget for tires..

I cant go over by a penny, And I'm planning on getting them next month;

Any Advice for me? Keep in mind, I have a V6 with Gutted Cats, And An aftermarket muffler of some kind, Its too rusted to tell. Lol

SO im not running huge horsepower, Just a bunch of Little Horses running around in there..

Anyone have a good Brand of tire they like for a Set/Install 400$ Or Less?

Hold on to your funds until you find the right one. I had snow tires on and needed to replace my stock 16" summers. I had a budget of $500. Searched online on craigslist and kijiji, called people and also looked for people selling at a higher price. I looked for 18's with tires on them, but also considered 17's or simply putting brand new 16" 245's. Posted what I liked on here and asked for advise. McQueen said to keep looking.... So I did. One guy online posted staggered 18's (wheels and tires) for $1000 and has been there about a month. He said he had a guy do a no show that day so I told him I'll give him $600 in half an hour if I liked it.

I ended up getting from him 4 sets of 18x8.5 5 spoke chrome deep dish (Ruff Racing) with 18x245 Cooper Zeon uni-directionals and 2 sets of 18x9.5 same wheel and 275's of the same tires for the rear (plus 1 snow tire).... ALL FOR $600 (in 30 minutes).

Just wait and look around and try to haggle if you can... quick cash is king.

Good luck man on your search.

Man... that wheel size is REALLY limiting your options. The only decent tires I can find on tirerack in your size are the Kumho ASX (which I've ran in the past and do like for an allseason) and a Bridgestone Potenza (which at $91 tire will break your budget once you include shipping/mounting).

Honestly, for $400, I'd be scrounging craigslist for some takeoff wheels that have tires on 'em. I've seen Bullitts and stock GT wheels with halfway decent rubber go for half that on my local CL, so you should be able to find something used in your price range (and then not be stuck with 15s when those tires are done for).

If it's just gonna be for DD and you plan to upgrade our wheels soon anyway (staggered 17/18s ), why not just look for decent looking USED ones for about $30-$40 a pop?

A set of Barum Bravuris 2s would run you less than 400. I work at discount tire and we sell quite a few of them. It's a good reliable asymmetrical tire that we dont get back for blowouts and seperation (manufacturer defects). 85 bucks a tire with lifetime balance and rotations is def not a raw deal. If you need any other help lmk, I work with these tires every day.

P.s. please for the love of god don't buy falken's, they are absolute garbage

Unless they don't sell them where you are, which would be weird but i assume you can get that tire at any discount tire

I pulled that information from here: Barum -Bravuris 2

I missed the part where it said "initially" before "be available in 16 different sizes suitable for 16" to 20" rims."

I still say finding a set of 17" takeoffs with half-way decent tires is the best way to go in the long run.

+1 thats what I did, I got 4 SN95 17" GT rims with 50% Continental tires for 100...I stole them pretty much from the woman, she told me to make an offer...so I did.

Agreed, and agreed. May as well get some nicer rims so you can accommodate a slightly wider tire for better drive ability and traction. Id be checking out used bullitt rims on craigslist or something. But I have Yokohamas on my sixxer and they are amazing, they have seen some crazy weather, flash floods, blizzards etc...

I got my 17s with brand new falken ze512s (garbage tires BTW) but you can't put decent tires on 17s for cheap, I paid about $400 for just my 275 Yokohama S-drive rears.

My point is for 400 he might be able to get some Rims but the tires prob won't be great so it may be smarter for him to just get new stock size tires

looks like someone needs to save about 200$ more haha, but do it right with 17's and a tire around 10 or more in wide.

245/45R17s are still pretty cheap, and it's exactly what would fit the most common GT takeoff size, 17x8s.

Huge +1 to Falken Ze512s being utter trash. I've ended up with two different sets on used wheels I bought, and both sets were horrid.
