He told me he had no answer. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable with my tech saying its illegal to inspect and his tech saying its perfect. On top of all of that, he didn't mention price or the inclusion of the replacement tires to try to get me back.
I would guess all those functions were tuned off in the tune (as they are in most of our cars) that are modded anyway.

Yeah, I'd pass. Rust + oil leak + a quick dump of the car by P.O. You'll find something better, or cheaper, or both. Makes more sense to buy a completely bone stock car from an old lady, then mod yourself so you know exactly what was done.

I mean for 8495 I would surely buy a 98-02 trans am or z28

Man you guys are wierd. Rust really scares you away from a car? Look under any car thats at least a few years old and there will be rust. And how does driving in the snow damage the car?

The only thing about that car that would be the decision maker for me is the rear main seal leak. Cheap fix but alot of labor, i dont really think theres anything else wrong with it as long as you can get it for a decent price.

and on the craigslist post it says $7295 now. The place seems negotiable about the price.

Driving in snow damages the car because in CT/NY/etc.... they throw this crap on the roads to melt the snow that does serious DAMAGE to your car, whether it simply be the brake/fuel lines or the frame or whatever else is down there

we get the same stuff down here on the roads. I dont think modern fuel lines and cars are really affected by it. Sure my axles and driveshaft are rusty but fuel and brake lines look fine.

Ive never heard of that crap eating away at the underneath, only that it eats away at your paint.

I've had my car since it was made in 99 and it has 0 body rust. Sure, metal rusts and certain parts will oxidize, but body rust will eat an entire car if not dealt with. Why people go out of their way to buy cars from the south.

Edit: If rust were the one and only issue it may not be a bad pickup, but everything together makes me say pass.

No, I'm sure about this one. Lol. I know a lot of older mechanics and they all attest to that. When they started using that stuff on the roads, there was definitely a huge jump in people coming into shops with rusted through brake lines. Actually, I saw it on my aunts expedition back in february. I looked underneath and if it was me working on the car, every brake line would have been replaced. It was rust central down there

The salt they throw on the roads here EAT cars alive from the inside out. It's just the way it is. Again, it wasn't the rust that was the deal breaker, it was the other things with it. The rear main seal alone would have been big bucks in labor.

Additionally the seller would NOT budge under his advertised price. So...it boiled down to a decision on my part. So I walked away.

My last 2 cars had rust holes all over them from the salt stuff they put on the roads here, not to mention most of the suspension was rusted to shit too. If its been driven in the snow its whole life its bound to be in rough shape. Mines luckily from FL and sees winter driving less than 10-15 times a year, then gets washed underneath so it doesnt get rusty.

BUT theyre enough stangs out there that never see snow (RWD does that) so just wait for that one

WOW

I stayed in Michigan upper part 20 years. Never ever had I had a problem because of snow/salt on any of my cars.

Snow does no harm neither does salt for the most part..

Anybody saying it does is just talking from the side of their ass.

20 years in Michigan and multiple cars heck sometimes i never washed my car during the winter and the snow and salt never bothered it.

You may get rust holes in body after 10 years but thats if you dont wash your car.. Now days cities use a diff kind of salt that doesnt harm cars.
