To keep the v6 or not!?
So my sixxer has received the most work as far as upgrades and maintenance. Which is why i'm hesitant to see it go.
I'm guessing a new clutch will be in it's future since the TOB and generally the whole drive train whines a squeaks. I noticed in 1st a very slight slip... But what do you guys think i should do? I could keep it and put in a lightly built 4.6 and diff OR just sell it. But i feel like the GT would cost more in the end since i would still tinker with the engine, body, rims, tint, stereo, exhaust etc...v6 has all that done already! But im really torn, i love the looks of my car, but not so much open diff 7.5 and v6...And honestly it looks to good to sell for under 4000$ which it's valued at.

If you don't like the open diff and don't want to sale it, put an 8.8 in it pr a t lok, but any route you go will cost money, the GT probably would be more expensive because you will have to buy it, then you'll have all the stuff you want to do to it, I say put a tlok or an 8.8 in and put a turbo on the motor if your wanting more power but that's just my two cents

I say stay with your car because it is working great and you like it. Upgrading expensive and riskier.
Selling your car and then buying another comes with lots of fees and taxes along the way. Say you got $4K for yours and bought a good condition GT for $6K. On that $6K goes taxes, title and registration if you buy from a lot. Perhaps in your state you can avoid sales tax from a private seller, but most states will still get your for a couple hundred. You might get lucky and buy a perfect GT. For ordinary humans, nothing needs repairs more often than a car you just bought; new or old. You won't know if or how much until after you've purchased the car and driven it for a while. In a case of bad luck, you could sell your car and end up spending $3K more buying a GT to replace it. It could also unexpectedly spend time in the shop during the first weeks of ownership. I wise man once told me "people tend to sell their problems". I've rented cars while the one I just bought was in for major repairs. It sucked. A good car is hard to come by. If you have a proven daily driver, consider yourself lucky and keep it.

LSDs for 7.5s are out there, and they're not *that* much. The 7.5 is good for a lot more power than it's given credit for, and it's less lossy than an 8.8.
And what is it that you don't like about the V6? Power is just boost away, and there's an entire world of non-straight-line driving where the stock Mustang suspension isn't good enough even for the 190hp a stock New Edge sixxer makes. I mean, don't get me wrong, I totally understand getting bored with a car, but you're just not gonna get anything out of it close to what you've put into it. I'm also not sure why you'd want to double up on the V8 cars considering that you have a SC S281.

Point taken on the saleen, but it only has 12,000 miles and is the Sunday driver, I would never do any crazy modifications to it either. This is why another vehicle will be needed!
I need something reasonably fast that i can beat the piss outta every weekend and still drive it to work. Ill look into the t-lock for 7.5. But the sixxer sees most the miles, its at 140,000. So my better judgement tells me to get new parts, like a new engine, new diff setup etc... I think forced induction on that many miles is asking for trouble. But from everyone posts, seems like swapping some GT into the sixxer maybe a cheaper alternative. I've never undertaken any huge work like engine swaps, but im assuming with some time, manuals, and around 10k I could maybe get away with something? If someone similar swaps (gt engine and 8.8) can approximate a cost range i may just try this when the clutch goes, probably soon. It's getting bad.

Dave, that makes no sense.
"I have exactly the car I want, but I don't want to drive it. So I want to buy another one or make one exactly like that, and drive that one instead.". Why did you want the Saleen in the first place? To drive it, or for it to take up room in your garage while you wipe it with a diaper?

If you're going to spend 10k on a swap you might as well go 4v... or you could spend $10k on a low mile new edge GT that would be more reliable.
I can understand not wanting to rack up commuting miles on the Saleen, but if your V6 isn't broken I dont see why a swap is needed. you could sell it and trade up for a GT or drive it into the ground and then swap engines and suspension.

But you think i could get away with a 4v, 8.8, and all the other parts for under 10K? I was really thinking about using the lincoln mark viii engine, but i was guessing the 2v and all the other parts would be around 10k...

I think you could manage a 4V swap for $10g if you wanted to.
But you could do a clutch for $500 and then drive the car another 140k if your V6 is in that good of condition.

$10k for an engine swap? You could sell the V6, take that money + the $10k, and buy an 03/04 Mach 1, 99/01 Cobra, or a slightly higher mileage 03/04 Cobra with that.

Or, take $10k, sell the sixxer, use $7k to buy a '96-98 Cobra, and use the $3k + whatever the sixxer brings in for mod and, you know, responsible investments.
For inspiration:
