Fixed AC 3 months ago. Now compressor needs to be replaced.
I live in ny. I drove down to florida at the end of febuary. That is when I found out going from cold ny to hot florida that my ac did not work. I took the car to a local ford dealership and they replaced the high and lower side schrader valves and shaft seal. They said the compressor was fine. That cost 500 dollars. When I got back to ny, still being cold I did not start using my ac until about a month and a half ago, and about two or three weeks after that the ac started blowing warm air again. I figured something they replaced must have not been put in correctly. The ford dealership here now is telling me I have to replace the compressor, which is going to cost about 860 bucks. What I am concerned about is first I have no way of telling if I am being taken for a ride, and secondly is it possible when the first ford dealership worked on the car they might have done something incorrectly that caused a rapid death of the compressor if the compressor really needs to be replaced. Should I contact ford directly to see if I can get some type of compensation for pretty much having to spend 1300 dollars on something that I thought was already fixed?

rockauto.com has a motorcraft compressor brand new for $190. dont get work done at a dealership, buy the part online and bring it to a normal mechanic or a specialty ac place if you dont want to do the work yourself

Sounds like replacing the seal didn't work and the refrigerant leaked out. There is also a question as to whether the system was flushed and the correct amount of oil added. Have a good AC shop flush the system and install a new or rebuilt compressor. The receiver dryer also needs to be replaced.
