hey guys so i found a good deal on a tuner for $150 and its the Diablo Sport predator but i have been reading about sct so i dont know much about them. It says it fits mustangs 98 to 09( mines a 00) but how do the tunes on it work? does it already come with tunes pre loaded?

This is a very important thing to find out.



Also, don't load any tunes from used tuners onto your car's computer (not even preloaded). More than likely you'll end up with a car that won't start/run. You'll need to have someone write a tune for your car. I think Bama writes tunes for like $50 and they're not bad if you've just got some basic bolt ons.

there is also an unlocked sct x2 for the same price, came off an 02 gt. What do you think i should go for?

Not the one for the GT lol. Is the Diablo for a GT also?

The sct is definitely unlocked but does that mean it will work on my car even though its for a gt? im a little new to this tuner stuff haha

GT or V6 doesn't matter. As long as it's for a Mustang then it should work with any OBDII Mustang I believe. The only thing that's different between each tuner is the tunes that are loaded onto it and, as I said, you'll need to get a tune written for you car. Personally, I'd go with the SCT. If you ever end up doing some big mods that require dyno tuning, SCT is more likely to be used by the tuner than Diablo.

ok so i think i am going to order the x2, its a pretty good deal. Is there a lot of differnce from the x3? and can i get the canned tunes for free that usually come with the unit from sct?

I don't think there's a big difference between the X2 and X3. I know on some of the newer X3/SF3s some options regarding emissions have been removed and have to be written into tunes. And you won't be able to get free tunes. SCT doesn't offer free tunes, those are offered by companies who sell the tuners at retail. I know AmericanMuscle offers free basic tunes if you buy a tuner from them and TrickTuners was offering the same deal a while ago (not sure if he still is).

go with SCT. last time i went into the ford perf. shop the tech said that the predator has had problems with our cars and they dont use them when they dynotune the cars.
