Fog Light Electrical Issue

Hello everyone, I have a 2000 V6 mustang with aftermarket foglights. I'm trying to find a way to rewire my foglights so that they don't kill the battery everytime I turn them on. I didn't have this issue before I got the foglights and connected them to the battery. Any suggestions? Thanks.

i honestly have no clue how you're killing your battery unless you're leaving them on while you are not running the car for long periods of time...

i had 55w HIDs wired to my battery and a toggle and the only time i ever killed my battery was leaving them on for a shift at work...must of hit my toggle on accident lol

6er if only that were the case. i don't run the lights because they kill the battery the minute i turn them on. idk why. it's a normal setup nothing fancy. i only use the lights at night or when it rains. i don't know what the deal is.

no they aren't wired into the parking lights just connected to foglight wiring harness and battery and amp that came with it of course.

would be easier to run them into the parking lights. i dont know if you thought he was joking or not but thats one of the best ways. if they are connected to wiring harness and battery and an amp..wheres the switch at?

parking light harness is way better. just hook it up to that and see if you have the same problem.

Naw, I didn't think he was making a joke, i was just saying they aren't hooked up to the parking lights. I had different fogs before and hooked them up the same way i'm running these and didn't have a problem. The switch is inside the car, which I disconnected inside the car because the minute I put power to the switch, whether the lights are on or not, it kills the battery. Idk, maybe the battery just sucks.

start your car and disconnect the positive battery terminal, if it dies your alternator is bad. But i couldnt see fog lights killing the car... put up pictures of how it is wired to your battery and the switch. does the battery die, or the car when you turn them on?

lol all this could be solved if he'd take the 5 minutes to get a fee systems check at advance or autozone...or at least point him in the direction for the main issue

6er I'm a girl....and I have taken my car to Pep Boy's and Autozone and everything checks out fine. About 5 months ago a tech at Firestone mentioned the voltage on the battery being low due to the foglights "probably". The reason why I'm asking you guys is to see if anyone has had a similiar experience like this before not because I didn't want to take 5 minutes to get a free systems check. Thanks for the advice tho.

if they're testing it then i can't see hwo they can't pinpoint the issue...when i do a system check on a customers car i'll get a full print-out of the different systems in graph format...including both with and without load

oh well i wish you the best...

you're exactly right and according to the machine, it can't find a problem. i'm going to take it to a different location today and try removing the positive terminal. no point in having fogs if i can't use them. thanks.

here's a good question...what gauge wires are you using for the fogs? this does matter ...and is there any point where an open wire is touching something else beside the fog terminals or the battery?

just trying to help out lol
