I was looking at the AM one they have on sale for 54.99. The only problem i read with one customer review is that it wont pass CA smog. Is this true with all CAI or just this one?

all CAI are the same...and i dunno if it's just that one customer thats had trouble or not...i'd pm AM on here and ask

ok ....so just called AM....Very helpful....and said that for CA emisions I would probably need a CAI that has a CARB EO number. Like the K&N one has CARB EO Number: D-269-28

So guess if I want to go this route i have to buy a BBK or K&N CAI

My guess is that the AM doesn't have a provision for CCV. That's the only emissions control related to the CAI. If you're ambitious enough it wouldn't be hard to drill a hole and thread in a fitting for the CCV return.
EDIT: disregard that. Stupid CARB certification. I can't imagine they'd check for a certification number.

Genuine K means it's most likely a no brand filter that they wanted to make sound like a K&N. That doesn't mean it's necessarily bad.. but I wouldn't expect to be receiving a K&N.

All it does is make your exhaust deeper but that is BARELY noticeable, and you'll have a whistle in your engine bay from like 1.5k-3k RPM. If your looking for any gains in HP don't get it, you will get 1HP off it IF that.

I like the weather, most of the people down here in San Diego are pretty laid back, so if you can put up with the state govt crap (taxes and other dumb laws) its really a nice place....at least my little corner of it.
