Clutch issue....damn well better not be

So I was noticing a lot of vibration in my clutch pedal....particularly at low RPMs like when coming to a stop or even just after complete stop. Sometimes I could even look at my clutch pedal and see it moving under the normal engine vibration. Took it in and was told I needed a complete new clutch kit. OK....sh!tty....but ok. Got that work done and the new clutch feels great. Clutch pedal not as nearly hard to depress and much smoother action. Over all....seems like it was the right thing. Now I noticed the vibration in the clutch pedal again and getting worse over the past two days....all this only a week after the work was done. I am noticing a vibration coming from what seems to be a specific area under the hood that seems to be linked with the vibration of the clutch pedal. The strange thing is that when i depress the clutch pedal (basically remove the slack in the pedal travel just to the point of engagement) the vibration and noise disappears. I am not sure if there is just a loose part in the 'linkage' of the clutch pedal assembly or what. I am taking it back to the shop today, but crap....I can't afford another 1000.00+ bill.

They should warranty their work, especially a week later. But it sounds like something is not connected properly, most like the fork / cable connection. Do you know if they examined / resurfaced the flywheel?

It probably just needs to be adjusted. I know how to do it, though I can't seem to do it right on mine & it has the same vibration still. smh.... If I remember right, you pull the clutch pedal all the way up and then slowly depress it. Or maybe it's the other way around? Lol, something along those lines. Maybe somebody else can chime in here....

maybe loose tranny mounts or motor mounts? or something is loose in the linkage.

to adjust the clutch pedal you just pull up on the clutch pedal and then push it all the way to the floor. it will put the engage the clutch around where the brake pedal is

They did resurface the flywheel. I am taking it back in today for a look. Hopefully it is just an adjustment and not something completely different like motor mounts or tranny mounts. I thought it might be something loose in the linkage myself, but what the hell do I know. Thats just what it seemed like to me (first impression especially givent that when I depress the pedal a little bit to take up the slack in the clutch pedal, it all seemed to dissapear)

Sometimes its a bad TOB. I did my clutch and used an aftermarket TOB and it caused my peddle to rattle and it squealed like a stuck pig. Got a ford OEM TOB like everyone says, and I just replaced the clutch fork at same time because I 204K on the car. Now its awesome. Doesnt rattle or squeal and shifts perfect.

well the other thing it could be is clutch chatter. and if it is you will probably need a new clutch because if thats what it is, then they didn't install it correctly.

+1 It's more than likely a bad TOB. My TOB is going out yet again and my peddle rattles like crazy, but only at low RPM's.

What kind of TOB was installed? Aftermarket ones are known to go bad VERY quickly (some have gone out in less than 100 miles). Ford OEM is the only way to go when it comes to TOBs.

Also, $1000+ for a clutch install? That's fucking insane. I paid $250 for my install, $50 for the flywheel to be resurfaced, and $250 for an OEM clutch kit from Ford (had a RAM clutch kit I picked up for $180, but RAM fucked something up and the pressure plate wouldn't line up).

its the TOB. mine did that shit and its still noisy but the vibration is gone. to fix the vibration i had to replace the clutch cable. the old one had way to much slack in it and with the new clutch was way softer than the old one so the pedal had play. long story short, aftermarket TOB's are ass, and the stock cable overtime will stretch out and allow for excess play in the pedal.

Well after I took it back in, they said the first one just was defective parts (didnt specifiy but probably a bearing issue). They installed a new clutch kit and flywheel and all is good now, and yes, it was covered so no addtional charge.
