EGR valve

My egr valve is shot and I'm trying to decide if I should replace it or delete it. Any pros or cons in either case and how diffiult is it to delete it?

Deleting it is cheaper, but you will have a few DTC's unless you have those functions turned off by a tune. Or replace the valve for the price of the valve and the gasket.

Replace it.
Like he said, unless you have a tuner and do it correctly it's best to keep it.
SSM has a "how to" write up I believe. There is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

i welded mine shut right where it unscrews after the egr valve so its still there but its welded shut.

so far its not throwing a code because the egr opens and closes as it should

and my gas meilage is fine as well ive been doing tests after my header install and im getting 18 city and about 24 highway

i say go for it man. you can flip the egr where it mounts to the intake and its a blockoff plate

You know, I deleted mine and never got a CEL.. What I did was block off the hole on the header's with a big nut. Lol. Then I just cut a piece of somewhat thick metal to the shape of the valve, drilled two holes for the bolts, & shoved that there. I left all sensors and parts there (Save for the actual EGR pipe) and never got a code. & it somewhat looks like I still have it if I ever need to prove anything. (Though I just went through emissions last week.)

I've heard mixed stories on it throwing a code, though. It varies from person to person, I guess =/

I wish I thought of that! Lmaoo, would've been easier than cutting the metal

If I delete it and don't replace it will it stop the popping noise and back firing because that's what I'm getting now? All I smell is exhaust fumes and it is not fun.
