Cold Air Intake?
ok so i hate to make a new thread about this, but should i bother getting a CAI for my v6? i've heard that the gains are so minimal that its not even worth buying but ive also heard its a must-have for any mustang.. the reason why i need to know is because i just got paid and the american muscle cai is on sale for only $55, but only for the next 2 days.. should i get it?? if anything does the car run smoother or sound better with it?

I know it doesnt do much, But for that sale it is very tempting..
For me I just think a good K&N or other Performance filter in there, And you're set. I would rather do something else with 55$.. Like Get Gas.. LOL But anyways, Its all up to what you want to do in the long term, Sure a CAI is awesome and may change the way things sound, But the 2-5 Horses you gain wont be as noticeable as you want. If you're going to Tune it up a bit more later, Sure; Go ahead. Every little Mod helps a little bit. it's all up to you man, It's your car. You're doing what I do! Lol Trying to convince yourself to do it by asking. Nothing wrong with that. its what we do as men. We find backup.

IMO, they are not worth!
just now i was lurking around for some mods, I found out that the K&N intake is $298 and the Tri Ax Shifter is $190 (all with shipping to Dubai) so after some deep thought and analyzing, I've reached to a conclusion that: screw intake, get shifter!! lol

The CAI nets you maybe 1 or 2 hp honestly. The windstar intake would be much better. But its more expensive

thanks for the replies i know that it probably won't benefit my car much.. but $55 is just so tempting lol. i do eventually plan on getting a tuner though if that would help any
i would love a windstar but i just don't see it happening anytime soon :/ |

I say for $55 why not? Yeah you won't see much gains, but it'll look nice and clean up the engine bay a little bit.

getting a k&n drop in filter would be pretty close to 55 so why not get the extra eye candy under the hood?

I just ordered mine yesterday for the $55 AM CAI... with shipping to Canada, it came out to about $83US. Not too bad. I found one from a local ricer supplier and he was charging me $98CAN + tax. However, I'm not sure how long it'll get to me... 5 maybe 10 days.
I know it's not much gain but a gain is a gain. Now that my newer engine is installed and my car is on the road, I have the old engine to play with and take my time to do the port and polish of the intakes and heads. A

as I said, im getting a shifter 1st, but if I found a locally used intake for a decent price then hell yeah!! $298 for a new intake which will benefit few tiny hp's, NO

mmm you will get between 1 and 2 hp, if you put a good K&N filter then you might see 3 or 4 hp if you are lucky, supposedly it can increase mpg as well, so what the hell go for it and if you can get a tune even better

well i went ahead and ordered it. if a $400 windstar intake nets around 7hp then i figure a $55 CAI netting from 1 to 2 hp (maybe more with a tune) is a decent deal. plus like others said it will clean up the engine bay a bit
yeah im only getting it because of the low price. i would not pay $298 for a cai either |

I have that CAI, honestly your not going to notice any hp gains. The intake will sound much better but go ahead and buy it then save up for some gears and then a tuner
