Exhaust Question
Whats up guys? It's been a while since I've posted here. But I have a question. Recently the exhaust on my car came disconnected, making the car loud as fuck. It kinda sounded sweet, but it was also kind of annoyingly loud. My buddy's dad works at Midas and I took it up there for him to take a look at it, going from stock to loud as fuck was a huge difference, and it made me want to get my exhaust done. For right now, its fixed. But I talked to him about what we could do to the exhaust next week. One guy said not to get duals because it wouldnt sound good. They kind of agreed and said a good option would be cutting off the cats, welding pipes in there, and replacing the muffler with a performance muffler (my choice would be Flowmaster Original 40). What do you guys think? How much will this improve the sound of the exhaust?
Thanks!

You will be very disappointed that you wasted money staying with a single exhaust setup. I've seen plenty of people listen to exhaust shops or think that they'll be the first person to pull off some badass sounding single exhaust setup and they all end up spending money a second time to go with a dual exhaust setup so it sounds better.

i had SO many people tell me that dual exhaust on my v6 would sound horrible and not to waste my money on it. but i got it done anyway with an h-pipe and thrush mufflers, and it sounds great, and just makes the car feel more powerful (even though the gains in hp are not much). yes, some dual exhaust will sound bad on sixxers. x-pipes dont sound that great on our v6's imo and neither do cherrybombs. i would look into an h-pipe with either flowmaster 40 or thrush mufflers, or either get straight pipes. also check out the v6 exhaust thread to see what you like.
btw i would reccomend getting your cats removed or gutted if you want it loud. the duals will give a better and louder sound but i'm getting the cats gutted cause it's not loud enough for me :p |

I completely agree with mcqueen, DO NOT waste money on a single setup. But im with you on your muffler choice. I went all out and got longtube headers H pipe and original 40's all 2.5 inch piping and 5 inch tips and could not be happier with the sound. Unless i got a a nice cam of course

If you're already messin' with the whole exhaust system, deleting the cats and all... You might as well do it right. Get duals. I've tried the single flow... I liked it the first few days.. of course its a bit louder than stock but after awhile.... POOP.
![]() Just get Thrush Welds... You could probably get two of them for the price of one Flow. You won't regret getting duals. I don't.
