large amounts of water out of pipes
I was following my wife as she drove my Mustang. I noticed a large amount of water coming from both the exhausts. I know there can be some condensation in the pipes but there was alot that came out when we first started driving.
Its been pretty humid down here lately. Is like 1/2 cup of water coming out of the pipes normal? I noticed it once before in the driveway and yes, its for sure just water.

its just water for sure. Could this be the sign of an ehaust leak up front? Im totally guessing. Maybe from outside air getting in or something?
Heres why I ask. Theres a guy at my work (I dont totally trust) that used to be ASE in a bunch of different catagories. Anyway, he was looking at my car the other day becuase I asked him to give me his opinion about the size of the exhaust ( which he thought might be slightly too big, but thats another topic). So he cups his hand around the tip and closed it off. He said the pressure should be building up in the exhaust to the point that it will push his hand off. Well, it didnt. So he said I might have a leak somewhere. Could this be causing the water? And, do you agree with him saying he shouldnt be able to keep his hand over the tip? I know this is alot, Im sorry. Thanks for any response. I trust certain people here more than some people I know in person. |

Actually, my wife was driving it tonight. Perhaps the car was crying with fear. She's wrecked the thing twice already. I'll check underneath tomorrow in daylight like GF said. I dont know what to look for though.... but I'll get down there and look at it like I know some shit or something. Seriously, I should just check for a bad weld or something right? Is the cats where they usually have issues? |

so, was this ASE guy going to wait till he got 3rd degree burns before the pressure moved his hand? The pipes will be pretty fucking hot by the time that happens. And if you have dual exhaust it really dont happen. Just more pressure will come out of the other pipe.

if you get under it you are looking for cracks bad welds or wholes, yes wholes they do form. they can be anywhere though so...good luck. they are more prone to the front because of the heat by the time it gets to the back it is alot cooler than the headers. And heat wrapping your headers is bad so if they are wrapped you might wanna poke the wrap a little bit to see if there is a hidden hole that you cant see.

I was thinking about doing the termal wrap thing. It can cause oxidation or something? The web site I checked out said thats a myth if its done right.... but they'll say anything to sell their shit.
so that stuff causes holes huh? |
