toying with stock head unit replace ideas
My initial idea was to ditch my stock Mach 1000 head unit (HU), which I don't dislike, with something that I could hook my Zune MP3 player too....probably just via the 3.5mm jack. Yea it would look a little getto with the line in, but no problem as I would take the Zune out of the car when leaving as I use it for the gym as well.
Well recently I bought a Galaxy tablet, and I have come across some info on people who had replaced their entire HU with one of those. Someone even set it up to where he slide the tablet in and out on the fly so he could take the tab with him when exiting the vehicle. Now I think an install like that is cool, but probably not for me. However, and this is where I am a bit uneducated...since the table is blue tooth (BT) capable, and I know most modern HUs are too, cant you just synch the two devices? That way I could just get in my car, symch and then play the music from my tablet (15 meg of storage space curently) thru the car stereo? I love the sound and power I get from the MACH amps and such and I know that I can just get an adapter that will allow me to keep the current set up and just swap out the head units, but I need to know if anyone runs a wireless synch between a device and their BT enabled car HU. I also really dug the app I saw on a tablet that someone had hardwired into their care that showed them engine specs and also would read Check Engine Codes....way cool. Thanks for any input.
