Engine swap V6 to V8. HELP


Has anyone replaced their 3.8 lit. V6 with a V8? I have a 98 and looking to install a v8. Is it possible and what kinds of things would have to get swapped over?

well to swap you gotta remember new computer new tranny(duh we all new that but..needs to be in there) new drive shaft (not 100% sure on this) probably want to replace the rear end to handle the added power, and more im sure but its still morning and im not awak yet. So ya its def. cheaper to sell and buy new.

unless you did alot of interior and exterior work just do what they said and sell it. theres alot involved and its gonna cost you around $15,000-18,000 to do the whole swap(at least for miata's it is) ... so yea good luck

Thats what I did, and couldn't be happier.

If your dead set on swapping out to a v8 why not swap out to a v8 that will actually give ya some power? Like a 351 maybe?

oo okay, well i wouldnt know from personal experience just saw it on some car show where people were converting different cars to v8s .. they were stating 15-18 was a esitamted cost for miatas, v6s, etc.. oh well ..

cricket is a traitor lol, j/k but yeah if you wanna do a swap either a 351w swap will be easier, or a built 4.2l still a v6 but you can see 300hp outta them and it will bolt right up.

lol am not a traitor. I still have a Mustang, it just uhh grew? I bolted on 2 more cylinders after I put new muffler bearings in, and filled up my blinker fluid.

lol. At least I still got a Mustang. I don't view that as being a traitor. Why am I saying at least? I got a bigger, more powerful engine now.

waiting for the shop to get the budget worked out looks like I may be going to a built 4.2l then a 14psi turbo lol
