4R70W Automatic Transmission Issue?
I am still trying to get my ('97 V6 running right, but now I have a new problem with the tranny.
When I put the car in R to back out of my spot it clicks right into gear with no problem. However when I put the selector lever into D/2/1 it wont go into forward unless I rev the engine up to almost 4000rpms sometimes. and is now starting to jump out of gear even under power.... I am nervous that this (seemingly minor electrical) issue will worsen/become mechanical if I drive it too much more with this probblem. Any technical info and/or advice would be greatly appreciated

Service record on the transmission?
If your one of the never been serviced crowd I fear this will get expensive quick. it could be one of several things. Filter clogged valve body springs wearing out clogged valve body bad clutch packs o the forward gears this may help you it is the best resource for the 4R70W I've found TCCoA Tech Articles

take that SOB to a tranny shop and talk to them. While your at it. Start looking for a new tranny on CL or something. V6 auto's are easy to find usually

I just had the tranny rebuilt by a friend as a favor. my used jmodded vale body and new b&m trick shift auto trans fluid. Onstalled by myself with a remanufactured torque converter. Under 5k miles on the rebuild though. :/

With automatics, you have to take it to a shop. They'll plug it into their scanner and it'll show what's working. Did this in class before, you'd be surprised at the info those things give you! Lol, but I'm not sure exactly what your problem would be. I would take it to a shop first. If they can't figure it out thru a scanner, they'll have to pull it apart to check it out & pressure test to make sure clutches are engaging properly, etc..
I HATED working on automatic transmissions -____-
