rusty fuel filler tube

well this weeks problem is that when i pump gas, it leaks but not anyother time

ive concluded that the fuel filler neck has rusted because the gasket is fine.

has anyone done this? do i need to drop the tank to accomplish this task.

also there is probably rust in my gas tank so how do i get the tank cleaned out

i feel like im going to HAVE to drop the tank

oh and where do i get this part? can i get it at a parts store or do i have to go to ford

I'm guessing it's either the rust on the filler neck, or the gasket that connects the neck and the gas tank. That went on mine when I was away from home and my tank was losing gas every time I took a turn so I had a shop fix that and the neck since it was rusty anyways. I think it was a total of $250 for parts and labor, and I dont think they had to drop the tank

EDIT: You might need to drop your tank

Probably a fuel filler gasket, not too expensive but they do have to drop the tank. Common problem on 94-99.
