Raced a Corvette!!

I have a V6 completely stock so you know I got my ass handed to me.... But I was kicking his ass until he realized I was trying to race...he then pulled away from me as if I put the damn thing in reverse And he was driving the early 90's vette.

My cars governor kicks in at about 115 but I hear people talk of having all this horsepower all the time. When I talked of taking my governor off the site went apeshit...like NO don't do it How else do I achieve decent speeds if this isn't removed?....with that being said how do I remove it. And a tune?????, what is that and can I get one in Maryland?

speed don't with a race its a factor but not the only winning element i could hand your ass to you only trapping 120 MPH in the 1/4 mile and your trapping 135 MPH but if i stomp your ass off the line and you cant catch up till the race is over then your done. Tires, breaks suspension all have to be upgraded before you consider making your ride a screamer past the Factory limit. and sorry to say u would have gotten stomped on by the vette even with the governor off. ever had a blow out at 140 MPH? well you might if you take your car up to that with out getting the proper rated tires. and horsepower give you top end but more importantly it give you the lower end to haul your ass off the line at a decent speed. your going to have to look into some gears, a traction lock to start as well as a exhaust system to make the y pipe you have true dual. and a cold air intake and a tune.

I'm getting a CAI next week but thats only minimal amounts of increase I understand, but damn my 03 Galant does 120!, so did my suck ass stock 98 Neon (I loved that piece of shit though) I hear you about the gears and all it's just finding a place here in Maryland that actually does that stuff, or even a junk yard so I can rape a wrecked mustang...no luck yet.

My little brother has a neon that does 90 mph in 3rd gear and its a 5 speed. its a sick little car. and i have a sunfire that can do about the same i love the tiny little 5 speeds. CAI wont really give you much over the stock intake untill you get more happening to your ride but it will give you a cooler intake air temperature which in turn will help with throttle response.

I did beat this chick in a 05 Maxima last night though, I took the overdrive off and smoked her. She probably couldn't drive though. I pretty much race what ever is on the road that goes fast just for shits and giggles. I usually slow down when I get around GT's though

Thanks for the link HMUSN. Can't believe they send your car to the crusher Jug....although in hindsight that would teach you an invaluable lesson. Hey what about a place to find a GT hood, I've got the burgundy 04 40th anniversary coupe but I want a hood with the scoop on the front. I've been on different sites and they don't sell the scope.
Midas says they'll do my exhaust with super 40's or something like that but I'll check out that link first

hood scoops aren't cheap.
you could buy a new hood for what they cost.

I'm looking for a burgundy 2004 GT hood with gray racing stripes...just like the hoods all the 2003-04 GT's have, thats what I want. I can't find a junk yard or that would be the first place I'd look. I've also thought about contacting a Ford dealership to see where they send all their totaled mustangs
