Porting and polishing gains?
how much would i gain from porting and polishing the upper + lower intake and heads? (Don't say get a windstar because if i do this i will only have to pay for the gaskets)i have done some research and i have "heard" gains of 50hp. I was thinking that this was a little exaggerated. thoughts?

i have heard that our heads are the "bottle neck" of our engines. i mean port and polish all of that then get 24# injectors. think 50 hp if feasible?

sir, i have 24# injectors and not sure that i needed them 100% after tune or not ... ive got alot more then a P&P job.
more like 5-10hp probably, plus to fully port the upper its really gonna cost ya, just go windstar |

I found a graph from a car with pretty much your mods - the cam/p&p and it made 174 you made 227 so between the heads and cams 53hp and that is on a hot day

SSM is posting 80 hp gains on their power paks... pp heads and intakes, custom cam and stainless valves... not too bad. In my case, I've got the heads and intakes from my other engine so there's no downtime on the car being on the road. Just the time and the effort and the odds and ends for the install. Cam, valves, springs and maybe rods is a positive maybe. All in all, I theoretically find the gains decent.

I can't go winstar because i have a 2000 and i have to pass emissions. I was just wanting to know how much of a gain i would get from p&ping the intake and heads. besides i would do all of the porting and polishing myself so it would be a lot cheaper to do it.

you plan on porting the heads ? if so, not on the car I hope. that case go figure in the cost of head bolts and all the new gaskets

youj have to remove the egr (so i have read. and lol i know i have ported and polished heads b4.
