headers
Ok so i was making a delivery for my pizza place and all of the sudden i heard a loud pop from the engine and my car sounded like a stock car, well the drivers side manifold snapped off of the midpipe. So needless to say i got it welded in place temp. until i could get a replacement. I planned on getting LT's in december but should i just go ahead and buy them now? And what brand do you recomend? I have an 00' and i think the 99-00 are different from the 01-04 headers correct? I found a set of pacesetter LT's on ebay for $210 shipped and the sellers feedback was 99% so should i go that route? And what midpipe would you recomend? Ive got true duals with flow 40's now, any help and links would be appreciated!

I have a 00 and went with MAC ceramic coated LTs, I am pretty sure the headers are the same for all 99-04

look at Mac LT's...they will have the flanges on them and you're set to bolt them in straight out of the box....Pacesetters are a tad bit cheaper if you find them but they require you to have the flanges welded on so they will mount to a midpipe...hope that helps on that front
for the midpipe i reccomend the Mac Prochamber...i ran it on my GT and now my v6...Mustangmike also runs a prochamber on his LT's and it sounds great. if you can't afford a prochamber though look into a decent h-pipe feel free to ask any other questions and |

I would check your engine as well, cats dont normally go out unless the engine is causing it to clog.

okay thanks guys, so a prochamber or h pipe is recomended? Cause my setup now is stock cats and then true duals welded onto those so i was thinking doing the same setup with the LT's, just straight back into the flowmasters but im not sure, kinda short on cash so im trying to save as much money as i can

if you want to be cheap forget the midpipe...either way is fine...a midpipe will just deepen the tone

okay, will do, now the flanges your talkin about are the ones that connect the LT's to the midpipe right?

The ONLY issue I see on this LT idea is this, your flanges have to match correctly to seal off well. Dont want an exhuast leak. Mac has their own flange, but you'd want to buy their H pipe mid pipe with the flanges which is crazy ass price for what it is ... just for some matching flanges its crazy !

so they hook up to the block just fine, its from the midpipe to the LT's where you need the flanges? Im still new to engine stuff so pardon my dumbness lol

you don't have to get flanges, you can just have it welded straight to midpipe/straight pipes, i have the exhaust welded all the way from headers to tips, there are no leaks!!!!!
it was kinda funny when the head swap was being done though, he says you have the exhaust fully welded? i see the "damn it" look on Tom's face, had to chop them off just to undo heads

Get the Mac lt and off road h pipe. I got both and also got the 79-95 Mac mufflers to dumps I did not want to weld anything. Installed it all lastnight love them. Install isn't so bad at all just make sure you got a jack the can go a decent height or it will be a pain since the headers have to go in from the bottom
