cant figure this out???

my 1998 V6 mustang has started acting funny. I have a Mishimoto racing radiator that has no fill outlet i have to fill it through the upper hose so its hardd to know if its full or not but i think it is. Now what its doing is if i drive it...and not far, the ice cold air starts to get warm and the check engine light flashes. Now could it be the belt slipping or not enough antifreeze? its VERY annoying as im afraid to drive it anywhere because i dont want to damage anything. If any of you have a idea id love to hear it...Thanks in advance!

Try taking off your belt, and make sure you clean, and dry every pully on the engine. Replace old belt with a new belt, and it should not slip anyfurhter.. If you still have problems, At least you have a new belt, and clean pulleys..

Possibly a large air pocket in the coolant?

I'm going to go with this answer here.

OP, you need to get an inline fill for the radiator.

Yes when i say ice cold air i am talking about my air conditioner. It goes from blowing cold to almost hot and the check engine light starts to flash on and off. If its a air pocket in the coolant how do i get rid of it. I have loosened the top hose and put fluid in till it came out the top of the thermoustat housing so other than that how would i fill it? thanks everyone for your help

I believe you need to loosen the screw on the overflow tube and run the car until bubbles stop coming out. I'll let someone else chime in to be 100% sure, I've never had to totally totally refill coolant.

How can you tell if the system is properly filled if you have no filler neck on the radiator?

Why do you have a Mishimoto Radiator? Do you have any other modifications?

OP, what are you doing for an overflow reservoir if you don't have a pressurized cap anywhere in the system? Also, you said you're getting a CEL...what is the code?

YEah you should definitely have a pressurized cap. Vehicles come with it for the reason that it pressurized the system and in doing so it lowers the boiling point of the the coolant. Adding one will probably solve your issues. You might be able to find an inline one at your local auto parts store just look on their websites.

i have no cap at all. It hasnt been a problem for a few months then this started. Will not having a cap cause the A/C to get hot all of a sudden?

Is the car overheating? If it is then the condenser is gettting hot from the radiator heat, which is raises the pressure in the A/C system. Your vehicle has a high pressure safety switch that disengages the A/C clutch because the pressure is too high. Get a line fill and put a radiator cap.
Here's one i found at autozone. Even if it isn't the problem, you should still have it.

By not having a cap, you not only have a hard time bleeding air from the system, but you also have no way of regulating system pressure. It may not be the source of your current problem, but it certainly is something that I'd remedy immediately.

Scan your codes and see what is setting off the CEL as well.
