Advice on tire pressure

I have p225/16 tires on the front, p235/16 tires on the back of my mustang, 2" eibach drop on front, nothing on rear. Is it ok to put all four tires at around 35-36 psi? Thats what I have all four at right now. Or if not, what do you recommend?

Then round down to 40. But 35-36 psi is fine, just as long as your car doesn't wobble when it gets up to speed your good. I run 35 daily and when I go to the track if it wasn't prepped good I will go down to 30 psi

35 psi is fine, you could go for 40 to get better millage, just be sure you are not exceeding the limits, I have my 265/17 at 40 psi Ive taken it to the track at 18 psi on the back, worked great !

I think 35-36 would be good. Although it depends on how hot it is when you fill them up. If you fill them to 35psi when it's 105* outside, the pressure is going to drop quite a bit at night if the temp drops down into the 70s or whatever. Air expands in the heat and contracts in the cold and it will do it inside your tires, so keep that in mind when you put air in them.

WRONG! What's on your tire is the MAX PSI, & SHOULD NOT BE FILLED TO THERE! If anything, you fill from what it says on the inside of your door sill. Fill it to 35-36, you'll be fine.

Follow the tires recommendation. Some low profile tires need up to 50 pounds of air. Look at the max pressure on the tire and go 5 pounds less. Tire pressure will increase as you drive due to the air in the tires expanding.

go by what it says on the side of the tire and put about 5 - 8 pounds less in it.

That is good info to know. And come on guys. Tires have come a long way in the past 10 years. If you have a new edge the pressure recommendation was for tires that are pretty much extinct now. Plain and simply put follow the tire manufacturers recommendations. Unless your driving a 2012 mustang the door psi recommendation doesn't really apply. If your really concerned I suggest using 35 pounds as a start then drive around noting the handling characteristics then add 2 pounds til your happy with performance but remember that as you drive the psi will increase so make sure your dialing it in with warm tires. As they cool the psi will go down but don't add more air.

False, as well as several posts in this thread, the only thing that changes what pressure needs to be run in a tire is the weight of a vehicle. There are no low profile tires that need 50#s of air, the only tires that get that much pressure are load range e or d tires on heavy duty trucks.
At the OP, 35psi in your tires, the size difference makes no difference in the tire pressure you run.

If you want the scientifically accurate answer to this, you're gonna have to learn to take tire temps. Buy a cheap pyrometer (I got mine for $30), go for a drive, and measure the temperature of your tires at the outer shoulder, center, and inner shoulder.

Basically, if you know how to read tire wear, reading tire temps is pretty much the same, you just treat "hotter" as "more worn" and you don't have to wait until the tires are shot to see where the problem is.

If you don't, here's the digest version:
*If the center is hotter than the shoulders, you have too much pressure.
*If the shoulders are hotter than the center, you have too little.
*If the outer shoulder is hotter than the rest of the tire, you need more negative camber.
*If the inner shoulder is hotter than the rest, you need less negative camber.

Hot individual shoulders could also be due to incorrect toe.

Also note that there should be a slight gradient across the tire, with the inner shoulder being slightly warmer than the center which should be slightly warmer that the outside shoulder - this is due to the outer shoulder being more exposed to fresh air, which cools it down.

32 psi cold for the majority of street tires... trust me.

As already said the number listen on your tire is the MAX psi. so many pppl make the mistake of filling it up to this number.

I usually run 35psi up front and 30psi in the back. on 255/35/19
