loud whine in reverse?

i just got a 2000 v6 5 speed a few weeks ago and now when you drive in reverse it makes a loud whine and it gets louder the faster you go. It doesn't do it in any other gear except reverse anyone know what might be causing this?

Reverse uses a spur gear, which is what you normally think of when you think of a gear. It whines. It's normal. The forward gear usually use helical gears which are at an angle, allowing more gears to touch at once & a stronger transfer. They're alot quieter. This is why you hear it whine only in reverse and not in drive.. (I might have my gear names backwards, but I think that's right. Just know they're two different types of gear. Lol)

There's nothing wrong.

the reverse gear is a straight cut gear (bottom) and the rest of the gears are something else ( idr the name for them ) (top).

Reverse has spur cuts gears which are very noisy. It's normal.
