Question

Ticking Lifters!

I've been hearing a ticking noise from my engine on the passenger side that lasts for about 30 seconds after start up. I'm pretty sure that its from sticking/bad lifter(s). Anyone have any solutions on how to fix the problem without replacing them, and if i do have to replace them around how much would it cost??

well it could be a ticking lifter...but most likely its a cracked manifold..

our cars are very bad for the passenger side manifold to get a crack in them from where the water drips down on them...i'd check there first...if thats the issue you have two options...

1. weld the manifold

2. LTs or bust

if it does turn out to be just a lifter though i reccomend a bottle of lucas stabilizer at your next oil change in the place of a qrt of oil

also welcome to the site...please post pics of your car and a bit about it

Thanks man, i'll take a look at the manifold first. Thats what i thought it was at first but i've had a few people tell me its probably a lifter. Hopefully its not.

I'll post some pics as soon as i get some time. Thanks

i have the same probably in terms of a lifter. its getting better though, requires repetitive acts of oil stabilizer though to keep it up, will change it one day.

Whenever i drive next to a car or a wall with my windows open, i can usually hear the ticking a little, but today it seemed much louder than usual, the noise is bugging the hell out of me
