AM SCT Tuner questions

I am planning on buying a SCT Tuner from AmericanMuscle next month for my 2004 Ford Mustang 3.9L V6 and have some question:

1. are Bama tuner good because I plan on using the Performance tune out of the three

2. will the tuner calibrate my speedo to adjust to the tire size 18x9 and gears ratio

3. what are the question they ask prior to them writing up your tune, if so can you give me the full list that they ask?

4. Best way possible to find my car computer code w/o destroying my interior.

My mods consist of:

18x9 all around w/Nitto Neo Gen tires
Ford Racing 28 Spline Aluminon Driveshaft for 7.5 ---- install this September
Ford Racing T-Lock with Ford OEM 3:73 gears ---- install will be this October
Pypes Catted True dual exhaust with X-Pipe
K&N FIPK CAI ----- install this September
stock automatic transmission

1. Yes they are good up until you cam the car or go FI. If your just bolt on's which you are then they are fine.

2. Yes that is part of the questions you get asked.

3. I am not sure because I have not personally dealt with it. But I am pretty sure they just send you an e-mail with a link to a page you fill out.

4. I am not sure if you need this, but I could be wrong. I'll let someone else chime in on this one.

You need the code, but you don't mess up your interior getting it. Lol. On your passenger side.. Look to the right of where your feet would be. Remove that panel. It's only held by a couple plastic tabs and a screw or two. Your ecu is back there & has the code right on it. It's simple, takes 5 minutes to get it apart & back together.

hmm

Like they said, simple bolt ons are about all that Bama is good for. been there dealt with that ... Had a big argument with them over it too ... refused to give me anything to use till I could get it to the dyno ... trick tuners or VMP would be better help there ...

But then again I cant compare basic tunes. I really didn't have any issues with the performance 93 octane tune from bama, but then again, idk if it could have been better/worse using someone else. But if you plan on going HCI work, windstar or things like that ... dont use bama. Tire size changes, octane changes, gear ratio changes. All thats good

They will ask you basics like what octane you want, gear ratio, tire size, auto or manual, shit like that, very simple.

As far as you computer code, if you open the passenger door, there should be a small purple sticker with a 4 digit letter/number code. That should be your computer code. But it never hurts to pull back that kick panel and check the actuall computer for the first time. My advice. Write it down and when you get the SCT, write it down on it on beside the serial number incase you need to request a new tune sooner or later.

thanks, I am not doing anything serious in regard with modding the hell out of it.

Saving that money for the newer 50th annver. model coming out in later years and getting the top of the line whether it's the reutrn of the cobra or a gt500. My main focus is my speedometer being accurate once the gears are in, and getting any little benfits from my CAI and exhaust. As far as octane I plan on sticking with 87, lol

Current:
2004 Ford Mustang 3.9L V6 Purpose: (Long range DD)

Future Cars:

2014/2015 Future top of the line Mustang Purpose:Beat mid to mild range cars
(ex:BMW M3, Audi, Corvette Z06,etc)

2040 Chervelot Corvette ZR1 Purpose: Beat supercars (ex:Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc.)

it isn't a dream, if i wanted to I could buy a corvette zr1 or a gt500 all I got to do is 6 month deployment and come back with six figure. I hold back on the gt500 because of the rumors in the future that ford is coming out with. the corvette zr1 could be had but can't afford to park it in the streets, i live in an urban neigborhood. it bad enough people envy my v6 just because is nice looking and i keep it well maintain, just image if i had any of the two, can't wait to move out!!!!!

i could mod the v6 but feel it isn't worth the hassele and the fact that its my DD so i can't afford to leave it at a car shop for too long so i figure do some safe bolt on and call it a day and learn more from you guys.

this v6 has sentimental value to me. corvette and mustang are my thing, love american cars

I remember when i was 20 years old just came back from my first tour from the war, was going to buy a 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, but insurance was going to rape me with with 700 dollar a month. I could handle the car payment, but the insurance did it to me. I was an E-4 at the time. Back then being 20 years old with speeding ticket, young, brand new car v8 supercharged etc.

i guess being 28 is still consider a kid, thanks for the compliment

It is, you are correct. You can find instructions for finding your CPU code here:Your Mustang's Computer Code (1987-2011+) - The Basics at AmericanMuscle.com

I hope this helps!

Good luck on your quest and with your goals!
