They are called the axle seals

Usually when the seal fails it is because the bearing is wearing out and the axle has enough play in it to wear the seal lip away. Don't ignore a leak. It would be best to replace the bearing and seal soon. If the bearing wears out all the way, it may damage the axle too.

Good Luck!

I have to do the same thing on my car, anyone done it before? Is the bearing pressed in?

Yes, the bearing is pressed in. You have to use a puller tool that Advance Auto Parts rents for about $150 under their loan-a-tool program. PowerBuilt model number 648611.

Only buy replacement bearings from Ford ($30 or so each) or NAPA ($10 each).
Only buy replacement axle seals from Ford ($8 each I think).

I did the bearings and seals on both of my SN95 Cobras and if the bearings are stuck they will come out in pieces; the cage will break and the roller bearings will roll down into the axle tube. Make sure you get them all out and clean out the axle tube of all the old axle lubricant.

The process is pretty easy; support the back of the car on jackstands so that the rearend hangs freely, loosen the rearend cover bolts and allow the fluid to drain out. Remove the cover, remove the s-clip betweent the axles.
Remove the wheels, calipers, rear discs, push the axles in towards the center of the rearend, one at a time until you can see the C-clip in the center of the differential. Fish out the c-clip with pliers, pull the axle straight out of the rearend. Use the Advance Auto parts loan a tool to pull out the bearing and seal together. Clean the axle tube, lubricate the new bearing with axle lubricant, tap it into the axle tube bore. Put the new seal into place, dry, and tap it in lightly with a socket and rubber mallet until it is seated fully against the axle tube.
Put the rest back together as you took it apart and refill the differential with axle lubricant. I recommend doing both sides while you've got it apart. Definitely not a job that you want to disassemble stuff so that you can do one side.
