Follow up to import killers questions

Ok- I didnt want to steal the post so Im making a new one.

I think from what Ive been reading that my exhaust is too big. I just went and measured them to be sure.

I have true duel Flowmaster with 3 inch tips. It sounds very good at all speeds except idle after its warmed up. Sometimes it sounds like its just "puttering" or something. Like air is barely coming out. It sounds weak and pathetic. But, like I said, at mid to high RPMs it sounds like a champ.
The exhaust piping is not 3 inches and its mandrel bent. Its smaller in diameter. I would assume that the wider tips will be better as I mod more but for now, thats not the optimal size right?

Everyone says 2.5 or so.

What can I do ( if anything) to compensate for the bigger size? Im probably losing power right? Should I do a thermal wrap or something to help?

Is my only choice to change the tips or is 3 inches ok.????

i have 3 in tips, tips are nothing but ascetic the piping is what they are talking about when saying exhaust size and if you have a catback you have 2-1/4 or 2.5, and that airy sound is probably an exhaust leak.

Oh shit! GF, bringing me the bad news. I thought I might have a leak. I cant find one though.

This is good though. The tips have no effect on the performance on the exhaust? The tips are nearly 12 inces long but only come off the bumper maybe 1/4 inch.

It just sounds like the exhaust is not coming out real good.. Only when I rev it up.

This leak (if there is one) is bad for performance right? I have to find it.

so I should not worry about the tips?

keep the tips mine are at least a foot long, anything after the muffler really doesn't do anything but look good/bad

but first thing to check is your passenger side manifold, just seafoam the car and if smoke comes out anywhere but the back where it should thats where your leak is.

If your talking about the "air" sound when your up close to your exhaust at idle, is probably not a leak. I have that sound at Idle....

Run seafoam through your car and look to see if it seeps out somewhere, if so you have a leak....

Ive never heard of seafoam before today. Sounds like a plan.. thanks as usual for your insight. When I find the leak, I'll come whining back here looking for advice on how to fix it!

By the way, I was surfing the pics in the album and I think I noticed a picture of you with a guitar. Thats cool. I bought my son a BC Rich

He thinks he's Eddie Van Halen or somehting now. Its constant noise but I encourage the shit out of it. I cant play a single freiking cord. Thats the hardest instrument to learn

yeah not a hard fix if it is in the exhaust piping in the manifold it starts costing money,

you talking about me and guitar? If so yeah been playing about 6 years and I love it, eventually the sounds get better according to my dad lol, get him an acoustic if you want it quiet.
